Don't think many places are closed though. Lots of companies don't acknowledge them to be honest.

Yes - of course! Managed to get a quick glass of wine in at the pub lunchtime - so lovely dark and cool in there - so many people out in the garden in the sunshine... just don't understand it!

Getting excited about my holiday now. Leaving next Saturday from Southampton on the new P&O ship Brittania for a 7 night cruise - Guernsey, La Rochelle, Bilbao and La Carunna. Just been going through my wardrobe and pleased to discover that my cruise-type clothes still fit me, I haven't been on a cruise since 2012 so that is a good result as I have definitely changed shape since then. I was out shopping with my partner yesterday and said 'I really need to start looking for some clothes to take on the cruise'. He said 'I know where you could look - your wardrobe!' He was right.

How lovely that you are excited!  Have you done this trip before or is this new ground?  My sister loves cruises down the Rhine etc..  Do you get to stop off at each Port?

Yes we do, I love cruises it is like being on a fabulous floating hotel and you arrive somewhere different every day. My favourite cruise highlights are sailing into Venice - I had never been there before and we could see it from a distance getting closer and closer and as we sailed in it was so beautiful that I started to cry. We were really lucky as we were able to berth right outside St Marks Square and we stayed there two nights. My other favourite cruise was a Baltic cruise to St Petersburg - one of the highlights of that cruise was sailing through the Swedish archipelago outside Stockholm, just stunning.

How lovely!  Almost made a cruise booking several years ago as DH would like to see the Northern Lights - it was a no-fly trip.  He decided that he would be bored  :-X

No-one could EVER be bored on a cruise CLKD there is so much to do and see and you visit such lovely places. No-fly cruises are wonderful as you don't have to stress about luggage allowances. I need to go and move all the piles of clothes I have been trying on off my bed now and hang them up again and I have run out of steam, shouldn't have sat down!

Half the amount you think you will need?  ;)

Then there's the shoes and bag to match and don't forget the sun hat ……….

Hello Judith,

We have just returned from a Baltic cruise with Disney Cruise Line, had a wonderful time.  We have only ever cruised with Disney, but they are so expensive so next year we are thinking of trying someone else.  Was it you who said they had sailed with P and O?  We are thinking of the Ventura, I have read so many mixed reviews, have you sailed on her?
