Hi Dandelion
I am on Evorel 50 patches and 200mg Ultogestan for 12 days per month. My symptoms aren't the usual ones - with should/leg ache, tingling/crawling feelings, extreme fatigue, cold flushes, nausea and light headedness being the worse. I didn't really notice much change when I began HRT . Then suddenly had two days of feeling horribly wired and anxious (about three weeks in). Nearly stopped taking it (was convinced my estrogen had gone too high and I was about to collapse etc etc!). However, this eased and suddenly I woke up feeling happier than I have done in ages. Hadn't realised that feeling a little anxious had become so normal I was no longer spotting it til it was gone!
I did have two days of random fatigue and nausea before this (fine one minute then out of it the next). Still not sure if this was an initial side effect of the patches or because my estrogen is now too high. However, this week (week 5) it has calmed again and I am feeling determined to persevere and see what happens. Must admit, it was thanks to the encouragement of people on here that I have made this decision - on my own, I'd have been miles too impatient!
I did go to see my GP who was keen for me to wait for three months before doing anything different. She says if there is still nausea and fatigue occurring even then, it must be my own cycle conflicting with the HRT so she will switch me to Qlaira which is strong enough to dampen my mind-of-their-own hormones. (It's a new HRT combined with contraceptive pill which has a kinder estrogen than the usual pills).
Basically, what I am trying to say through all this waffle is give it a go, and don't be surprised if things seem a little worse before they get better. I am no expert on all this, but I think we have both let our bodies suffer with little estrogen for several years (at an age when they still needed a lot) so a few teething problems when we suddenly start having this hormone again are almost inevitable.
How are you feeling today? Have you noticed any difference yet?
