This has been recommended as an aid to better sleep and I wondered if anyone has heard of it, or tried it?

I took it for about 6 months some time ago - my sister worked at H&B and recommended it to me.  They market it as a "natural Prozac" and it definitely helped my mood and general well-being which I suppose in turn helped with my sleep patterns.

I'm currently taking it. I get my supply from a company called nutriAdvanced via my chiropractor who is an amazing woman when it comes to treating patients holistically.

On the whole, I get a better sleep with it than without it but I'm having a blip at the moment. Probably hormones bouncing up and down

Sorry to take so long to respond PN. I take 50mg 5htp daily. I can increase to 100mg if I need a top-up.

I am a bit undecided at the moment

I took it originally as I felt I was suffering with mild depression and having gone the AD route once before wanted to try something more natural.  When I eventually saw our HRT nurse at the practise she explained that mild depression can sometimes be a sign of peri-menopause and as I had other symptoms as well offered me HRT.  Once I started that I was a whole lot better so didn't feel the need to keep taking the 5-htp, simple as that really.  I would have no qualms about taking it again though if I felt I needed it
