Hi RubyRing
From what you said your further into menopause than I am, so the "getting used to it again" part may take more time for you.
If your further into menopause, just curious why doctor didn't put you onto a Conti option?
How long did you actually stay on the low dose Elleste Duet.
For me it took over 3 months on low dose to start to get past the doubt, worry, tears, sick and soreness. I was teary the most over first month. The doubt and worry I think caused my feeling of sickness. I feel that was more from the way I was treated by my doc than the tablets themselves.
The first few months were really sore and heavy and it took till around 5 months to get back to a period that felt closer to what it used to.
I'm sooo glad I stuck with it

I would like to move to a Conti option but for now things have settled and I don't want to rock my boat.
Its all part of getting back to more normal levels of the hormones we've been missing.
I had no follow ups by my doc to check levels (don't think this helped me either).
I think a lot of what we go through is flying blind on whats happening and where our levels get back to.
I agree with Hurdity but on the patches, personally I don't think my skin would cope well.
Others have posted patch allergy/soreness and other patch related problems.
Hope you feel better soon
