Burning Lips AND funny leg sensation now!
« on: June 30, 2014, 04:27:43 PM »

Hiya Ladies,
Having a yukky kind of day.  I now seemed to have another couple of symptoms to add to my list.  My lips feel like they are on fire, around the lips and down onto my chin.  I also have funny legs.  It's just like I'm really aware of my legs if that makes any sense. I can feel my leggings more than normal!!  Can anyone relate?  Not really numb but feels a bit like the feeling of an elastoplast across my thigh.  I'm also freezing today and I've actually gone and put the heating on. Bad palpitations too and feeling so anxious, with constant butterflies in tum (the feeling you get in a fast car when you go over a big bump)  I've propranalol in the cupboard so don't know if I should take one but I'm so afraid of side effects. Think I'm slowly going mad!!!

Hey

I take propananol without any side effects hun. If it helps try it, also try to maybe lie down and fill your thoughts with nice things i.e the sound of the sea, birds, whatever it is that you like.

Hope it helps

I take Propranalol every evening, stops the anxiety surges.

Burning lips can be due to pollen, my allergy is worse this last couple of weeks  >:(

I'm sometimes aware of my legs …….. like my thighs aren't strong enough to hold me up  :-\

Thanks ladies for the replies.  Went for a bath thinking it would help me relax but had to get out as my heart was pounding so fast.  I feel like I'm having a constant massive panic and I cannot seem to calm down at all.  Poor hubby must be sick to death of my constant moaning, and although he does try to reassure me I'll be fine, I  have a terror of some impending doom.  So, I've just taken a 10mg of Propanalol, and am now sitting waiting of some horrendous side effect.  Don't think I'll sleep tonight I feel so wired with all this adrenalin pumping through me.

So don't go to bed.  Sit in a comfy chair with some music?  Deep breathing ………. breath sharply in through the nose, count to 5 then let breath out through the mouth as slowly as possible.  I found I couldn't count to 5 initially ……. do this 3 times then rest.  Then again after a while ……..

Doodling, crosswords; anything to keep your mind busy.  Not easy I know!

Morning ladies

Well after taking the propranalol I really didn't feel any calmer.  My feet tingled more and had a bit of a headache but don't know if this was from the tablet or the anxiety.  I know everyone is different with the side effects, so it's difficult to tell.  Palps and tingles bad again this morning so might go take another pill.  Doc said to take one three times a day.  Do I need to take them a wee while before I notice improvement or should they work straight away?

I think it depends on how anxious you are as to how soon you notice them beginning to work.  I always sit and 'wait' to begin to feel better  ::).  The headache could be the BB, mine is muggy most of the while, in fact I've cut my dosage in half this week.  Otherwise my brain wants to sleep all the while  ::)

As for the  burning lips: I can't eat anything with pectin in, i.e. commercial jam - my tongue and mouth burn instantly!

Took a propranalol this morning, and within twenty mins felt rather spacey, which, with me being so anxious, sent me into a state of panic. (Not the intended outcome!).  Calmed down, had a cuppa, and now I feel I just want to sleep.  Gonna give myself a kick and get up and make some lunch.  Busy afternoon so can't really afford to feel like this.  Such a vicious circle!!  Have ordered a book by Claire Weekes, so am going to try and beat this anxiety milarky using her help. (If that's what it is that I have!!   ::))

 :poke2:   â€¦â€¦â€¦.   :kick:  ;)

Sometimes Propranlalol can have the opposite effect  >:( …….. have you tried Rescue Remedy ……. pastilles or mouth spray?

If I had a bad day of anxiety I would feel exhausted for a few days after  :'(

Dear Holiday lover I have just pm you I know just how you feel I have had the burning lips so bad that you can't drink hot drinks also the funny periods and the brown discharge on wiping that really freaks me out I do know that I have a small fibroid which the family planning doctor said wouldn't cause me much trouble ( can that cause brown discharge following a period) I get so terribly anxious. We are having a bad time as a family with husband recently been diagnosed with bladder cancer has had it removed and awaiting a further biopsy on the 17th of July I don't thinkkk I can cope also a mother in law with dementia !!!!! But Holiday lover I so can sympathise with you I am 51 also. I am sure all these symptoms are so indicative of perimenopause but like you when you ask your friends they say ' oh I never got that ' that makes you feel worse.. I too had have the palpitations and worse when the brown discharge is hanging around so probably connected. Hugs being sent to you all x

Morning
CLKD, I have tried the Rescue Remedy Pastilles, but to be honest felt I'd have been as well sucking a wine gum! Doctor did say they would only be good for someone with mild anxiety.  My greatest problem is believing my physical symptoms are that of anxiety, and why they are often more apparent when I am relaxing.  I am at the stage of thinking I may need to try CBT counselling, although I hate the thought of feeling patronised by a stranger (This has happened before when I say a saw a physcologist for panic and agrophobia), but I'm older now so it might be different.  I think I must constantly be hyperventilating or breathing wrong (even when sleeping). Friends are amazed when I tell them I have anxiety so it must not show on the outside.
Jane44, I have sent you a wee message, but I also was told I had a fibroid that wouldn't cause problems (well I think it is now!! ::) ). I just want a wee magic pill, take it tonight and wake up tomorrow morning feeling ticketyboo!!!! If only.
Take care x

Your breathing will be 'correct' whilst asleep, you may however wake suddenly which will bring you into 'alert' mode ……. awful, remember it well!  Practice the deep breathing technique 10 mins. every hour so that it becomes 'automatic'  ;)
