My beloved cat is gone
« on: June 19, 2014, 11:46:20 AM »

:'(  My beautiful cat was run over and killed this morning and I found him on my way to work.  My heart is breaking, I loved him so much - sweet, funny little chap.  I realise this is a strange subject for this forum... but I just can't stop crying - embarrassing really in an open plan office with two blokes (who are avoiding me like the plague).  Not sure if it's shock, but I haven't had a flush today yet, however I'd have one every 5 minutes if it would bring him back.

So sorry to hear this.  Please don't be embarrassed about getting upset - especially in front of blokes.  I work at a vets and in my experience it's the blokes who get far more visibly upset about poorly pets.

Thank you for your kind comments ladies - I'm sure a lot of people think I'm too sensitive and that 'it's just a cat' but he was so special to me, I loved him more than I love some of my relatives!
Tiger74 - thank you for that - my husband just rang, he's in tears too!
Sorry to hear about your dog Dyan - they are such a big part of our lives aren't they?
Greyhoundgal - I already have quite a menagerie waiting for me at Rainbow Bridge, and made him promise to wait for me there as I said my goodbyes this morning - it's such a lovely thought and I choose to believe it's true.
Hope you're all ok,
love Spadger x

It's not just a cat, he was your little friend and part of your family. You will have to give yourself time to grieve.

Rainbow Bridge is very real and I too have some special friends waiting for me too so I understand how you feel.
Hubby will have a big cuddle waiting for you when you get home.

Take care

Rainbow Bridge got me through my pets leaving.

2 of my cats were killed  :'( on the road outside my house - 9 days apart  :'(  it took 2 years before I could look at their photos and 3 before I considered another kitten.  I ended up with 3, a dog and 3 rabbits  ::)

The only thought was that at least the death was quick as the cars came down the hill really fast.

So very sorry Spadger - it's just as upsetting as losing one of the family.  Took me quite a while to get over losing my cat, infact sometimes I swear I can see him out of the corner of my eye creeping upstairs.

Bless you CLKD - to lose 2 of your kitties only 9 days apart must have been heart-breaking (this morning hubby thought about making our remaining cat a 'house-cat' for safety, but I think it would be so sad as they love to be outdoors).
Glad you felt able to give a loving home to more pets, I have never been without some type of pet my whole life but it does break your heart when they go.
It really helps to know that I'm not alone in grieving for pets.
Katy - thank you, and like you I swear I sometimes see a cat we lost some years ago out of the corner of my eye, sitting in her favourite sunny spot in the garden - it's nice to think that they love us so much that they never really leave us.

Our pets/animals take up lots of our time, are part of our daily routines so are going to be missed when they leave us.  Our chickens need care too so neighbours step in to feed.
