I do 12 days of the 100mg Utrogestan every other month and always have a good bleed for at least 5 days.

Cassie - do you feel any better, mentally? Also can I ask, were you still having periods when you started on HRT?

It does sound like you both just need to increase your Estrogen, we all need the dose that treats the symptoms, so if you still have symptoms you are either not on enough and could try an increase or change type but your doses are not much so if it were me then I would try an increase first.  Trial and a lot of error to get it right,  I’ve been trying for over 2 1/2 years and still not there yet, I’m peri.

Hi Floo! I think that it’s only because I’ve just seen a specialist that I’m not increasing! I have another 9 weeks til my follow up and she wants me to stick with this til then? Still thinking about stopping the Utrogestron for a short period of time to see if that is the problem?

Hi s.hunter  :welcomemm:

I've not used Estraderm, though at one point I was on another brand of 75mcg oestradiol patch with 100 mg Utrogestan, but find I can't tolerate Utrogestan whatever the dose of oestrogen I take it with, or whichever route I take the Utro by.  This doesn't necessarily mean Utro is also wrong for you, though many of us do find progesterone/progestogens give us problems if we're on a type or regimen that's wrong for us.  It could be that Utro doesn't agree with you or that your oestrogen dose is not right, or you may have absorption problems.  You may just need to tweak your existing regimen (change oestrogen dose, try cyclical instead of continuous prog, try Utro vaginally if you currently take it by mouth), or try another HRT option if you've not exhausted them all, so please don't give up hope.  Won't go further into it here today but can I suggest you start a thread of your own in the New Members section so that more women may see it & respond & you can then explore together what steps you can take to get a better HRT fit?  If you give us a little more info e.g stage of menopause, what else you've tried etc, you should get some helpful replies.

Hi, I started this regime three weeks ago. I was super sleepy on sandrena 1mg too. But also quick to anger. I'm on the utrogestan part now and it feels better than I expected, moods been ok and I'm sleeping well.

Hello

After trying everol sequi patches, upping the patch, then everol upped again to 75 with utrogesten I have now been switched to utrogesten with oestrogel. Quite quickly I upped to 3 pumps instead of my prescribed 2, because I was on holiday and feeling impatient for results after a 6 month hrt journey with no real results.

The results so far feel very encouraging and I'm hoping they keep building. Not sure what to expect of my period when it comes though!

As for the utrogesten it does give me bloating and loose stools. I seem to be ok with mood on it though. It also helps me sleep more but that sleep is full of dreams so I'm not sure how much valuable sleep I get.

My specialist wants me to persevere with a couple more months of the utrogesten orally before trying vaginally. Did others find the tummy issues settle down? I'm currently on my second month of the utrogesten.

Also will the initial energy I feel on the gel continue? I hope so!!!

Thanks

Did he give you a reason? I can't think of one. He isn't watching...

Hi there
Yes!  Tried it twice and have given up day before yesterday for the second time.  I didn't even get round to starting the Utrogestan pills.
Felt really, really, really sh**.  the worst thing was the pure rage which I have never had before, never had PMS or anything like that.
I'm 50, have had no hot flushes, periods becoming erratic with both timing and flow, sometimes horrendously heavy and then really light.  Was prescribed HRT for worsening migraines and although I personally don't believe it has anything to do with my hormones I was prepared to give a try not least because I was also starting to feel really low (I attribute that to living in constant fear of a migraine).
I started a thread a few days ago on this subject.  It seems HRT isn't for everyone.  Took my last pump 2 days ago and feel better already.

There are other chemicals in it apart from oestrogen. It's possible you have a bad reaction to one of these and you may be OK with a different brand.

hi there
do you mean the estrogel?  I thought it was all the same stuff just delivered in benign carrier gel or via patch?
I remember the first time I tried the regime I started the gel and utrogestan pills at the same time and in addition to feeling instantly suicidal and angry my boobs almost doubled in size and were incredibly uncomfortable.

I don't think I can put myself through any more experiments having been through propanalol, pizotifen, various tryptilines, topiramate and one that I can't remember.

I know I have reached the end of the road with ever trying to find a cure.  There's nothing I can do except accept that at 50 my life is essentially over.  I can knit, take the dog out, drive the children around.  that's it!

Hi Kelly76,
5 expresso sums it up well! That’s exactly how I felt when I upped my gel from 2 pumps to 3. It felt like that for a few days and then calmed, everything has been so much easier since.
Good luck.

Ladies

How long does it take on oestrogel dose to know if it's enough or know it's time to move up another pump?

Hi Cookie25, I waited a month to increase from 2 pumps to 3 but I now wish I’d waited half that. I did feel a bit wired for a couple of days and certainly caught up with work, cleaning and ironing!

Hope you wake up feeling great!

Utrogestan and abdominal pain
Hi everyone,

Did any of you suffer from abdominal pain for a few weeks after taking this orally for the first time?

My abdominal pain has been in my back, high up near ribs, central naval pain sharp, one-sided then diffuse. Pain is in the digestive system rather than the womb. After 2 weeks of oral use I switched back to vaginal use 5 days ago (100mg alternate nights) and I have constant discomfort during the day and more pain at night, it wakes me up.

If you can share your experiences/insights into this I would be really grateful.
