Thank you! Hubby keeps telling me it's a bug but you're right I do tend to instantly jump to hormones with everything I get/have. I'd convinced myself that as I'm on low dose utro that I was now ostrogen dominant hence the symptoms! Feel free to tell me to get a grip  ;Dx

Tinkerbellj, the 19th was only just over a week ago and (presumably) you are now at the tail end of your period so, in my opinion, you still have a fair amount of Utrogestan in your system.  Contrary to what it says in the patient information leaflet, Utrogestan stays in your system for a long time and it is not unusual to not feel abnormal until a few days after your period finishes.  Re the sweat/flushes, Utrogestan will oppose the Oestrogel and make it less effective so that could explain why you are getting those symptoms.

Looking back at your posts, you say you took Utrogestan for 9 days, what dose was that?  It is cumulative and builds up in your system and hangs around in you womb for quite a while when taken vaginally and although it will mainly be confined to the womb, some will leak out into your overall system.

It is vital to find your own threshold with Utrogestan, everyone is so different and it is impossible to know how much you need until your try different doses and then have a scan to make sure it is working properly.  One size never has, and never will fit all with Utrogestan and my body says "I don't need any more of this stuff" far sooner than it might for some.

Mary g I was supposed to take 200mg orally but side effects were so bad I changed to 100mg vaginally. This was my first time using it. My.period came but wasnt heavy at all. Only lasted a few days but as soon as the bleeding stopped the headache started. I am so low this is awful. I upped my oestrogen to three /four pumps while.using the progesterone amd am.going to stay on three now. Meno clinic.appt on Tuesday so will see what they think.  Not holding my.breath for any revelations mind u but.hoping to get testosterone gel prescribed x

Tinkerbellj, sorry for the questions but did you place the Utrogestan capsule right next to your cervix?  How heavy are your periods when you take it orally?  Do you feel any worse taking it vaginally?

If you normally take 200mg orally but this month took 100mg vaginally (and assuming none of it came out) then you are getting roughly the same dose as before because none of it is getting lost in your digestive system.

I have to confess to being slighted baffled but wonder if you are very, very severely intolerant to synthetic/artificial progesterone?  Have you ever tried any other types of progesterone with the gel or been on any other type of HRT (containing progesterone) that had a different affect on you?

Testosterone may help with mood, libido etc. but you need to get to the bottom of this.

This is the first month I have used it. I know I have never been able to take the pill and I suspect I am severely intolerant. I did explain this to my.doc. This is my 6th attempt at an hrt. The gel is fine although I still am.not jumping for.joy or anything close but I did take the progesterone. Close to the cervix. My periods  r usually heavy and painful bit this one wasmtr heavy at all and uncomfortable but not agony. This is the only separate progesterone I have tried. Well . except. For mirema.coil which was a disaster

Tinkerbellj, I'm afraid it sounds like you are very severely intolerant.  I have had two Mirena coils and never felt good but obviously it became intolerable once the migraines started.  They did subside once I started the patches but I don't know how well it would have worked with the Oestrogel - I certainly would not risk having another one fitted.

My advice is to try the Utrogestan again (vaginally) next month but do 100mg for 7 days instead of 9.  See if it makes any difference and then, after a few months, you could have a scan to make sure your lining is clearing properly.  I should point out that this is the Professor Studd regime and the NHS will try and get you to take more.

Am annoyed this morning, but my own doing. I have been pushing starting the Utrogestan, at least a week past my usual date, and lo and behold I am  now bleeding, seems to happen, if I do not keep my Utro dosage to the same date, very strange....am going to keep using them just through the bleed am hoping it stalls it and I can get back on track... :-\
