Stellajane, I'll write up my story in the Personal Experiences section because looking back I'm astounded by the fact that it took a 2WW referral for PMB before anyone mentioned HRT.
It's been bad enough trying to communicate with the GP practice that I need a repeat prescription of Vagifem! As far as they were concerned Estrogel + Utrogestan = all that's necessary. Meanwhile the consultant has advised me to do another 2 week reload of Vagifem and use one every other day indefinitely. "We haven't received anything from your consultant yet" = I'm making it up! They didn't even see the need for me to have it repeated at the old dose, so it was a case of me having to ring the consultant's secretary to tell her all this because I'm just about to run out of Vagifem the day after tomorrow! Anyway, I'm told the prescription has now been issued and I dare say it will all be sorted out once the letter from the hospital reaches the GP. But honestly! Do they think I've been putting the Vagifem in my tea or something?
OK, on to my question and I'm sure it comes up a lot, but how do you apply your Estrogel?
Same place every day?
Dosage applied on both arms or legs every time?
Do you rotate the locations?
I take 1x pump in the morning and 1x pump at night.
I use half on one side, half on the other
I apply to both upper/outer arms a.m. and both inner thighs p.m.
However, I've read different things online.
One set of instructions says one arm only
One opinion is always use the same site because you build up a reservoir under the skin
One opinion says apply where you have body fat – but I'm a skinny bird
My leaflet says either thighs or outer arms and shoulders and do each side, but those instructions are for 2x pumps applied once a day. There are no diagrams and I always prefer pictures as I understand things better that way.
I don't know if the information I read online is out of date or just someone's own idea. I just want to know what other people do because I never feel sure if I'm doing it right. Thanks.
