Chest pains
«

I am on my second month of HRT but for the past two weeks I have been getting a pain first in my right breast and then across the top of my chest. Today the pain is back in my breast.
I am not breathless and I have been to see my doctor. She checked my blood pressure and heart rate and said it is muscular and try ibuprofen. She didn't think it was the HRT but couldn't be sure (not what I waned to hear)! Has anybody suffered any symptoms like these? The HRT I have been taking has been a godsend, no more flushes. Thanks

Hi Julie1963
I get all sorts of pains but I'm afraid I usually ignore them until they go away! I would go to the doctor if they didn't after a couple of weeks though probably.
Any chest pain should probably be checked out as you have done. Sounds like you have had a preliminary check but go back if it persists as unexplained pains can be caused by all sorts of things.
Have you suffered from breast pain before? Some women experience this from both oestrogen and/or progesterone but usually when starting or changing HRT. What type are you taking and how long have you been taking it, and are you still peri-menopausal? If you are experiencing symptoms in the second half of the cycle and you are on cyclical HRT then maybe the progestogen is affecting you? Also I presume you physically check your breasts regularly?

I have experienced chest pains on and off, have been on hrt patches evoril conti for two years now.
I was convinced it was my heart, but have seen the cardiologist and had ecg's cardiographs and moniters all showing no problems.
Dr says it could be indigestion as i do have problems when eating some foods nowadays.
Hope you are feeling better soon. x

I am on Elleste Duet 1mg. I have checked for the usual lumps and I can't feel anything but the pain is like being stabbed.

Lack of oestrogen can cause laxity in muscles = stabbing pains in the chest area. Being stabbed feeling may be nipping of the various tendons, muscles etc. in those areas.
