Yesterday DH, Mum and I went to Church. It was where we married in 1975. The Church was having an open day in order to encourage more people to attend, visit or generally take an interest in the building. There was a guided talk by an architect which was full of historical interest, tea and coffee: we spoke to a guy I hadn't seen since we married and left the village - someone we were in school with.
However: as we wandered around the Church we heard someone put a donation into the glass jar - a man standing by turned to the woman and told her "We prefer notes as they don't make such a noise. We like our Church quiet" ............. I told the woman 'at least others know that you have put in a donation' and she went back to the man to tell him my words.
Now - never having been a religious person I could have thumped the man making such a comment. It was a day to encourage people to visit the Church

I will writing the same to the magazine of that partciular village !!!!! as DH said after, the lady could have dropped 10 x £2.00 pieces into the jar!
