Preparing & cooking meals bores me too.

However, tonight I'm cooking pork fillet with apple sauce, roast potatoes & parsnips. Haven't cooked pork fillet in yonks.

No planning required tonight thank goodness, it's pizza ( which is an occasional treat for us), salad and garlic bread followed by summer pudding courtesy of Waitrose. Just got to work out next weeks meals now😟 .

It's not so much the cooking, although that's bad enough,it's the thinking of new ideas !  :-\

I tend to do the same repetition week in week out ,when I ask DH what do you fancy for dinner he just says I'm not fussed
Grrrr >:( not helpful
That's why this topic is good seeing what others have gives me New ideas.......which I then forget !  ;D

It's our anniversary so having Chinese take away so got out of cooking again  ;)

My mum cooked same week in week out. Saturday & Sunday was a roast usually beef, Monday was leftovers, Tuesday & Wednesday mince or stew, Thurday was soup & pudding day, Friday was fish.  There was little deviation over the years.

Tomorrow I'm cooking steak & kidney with puff pastry.

Smoked salmon with avocado and prawn salad for us tonight.

It's the thinking of new things. Hubby rarely suggests anything. So I have to come up with ideas.
I go through phases when I really like to cook, and then there are the phases when I can't be bothered.

The thing that really annoys me....I trained as a chef and cooked for a living for a good few years off and on. I did a lot of private stuff, anniversaries, christenings, funerals. I also did every family occasion.
My wider family volunteer me...oh. ...Honeybun enjoys it...she will do it for you. I'm committed before I have a chance to say no.

Recently it has stopped because I have told them....no Honeybun does not enjoy it anymore. Find another caterer that you have to pay for  ::)

Ok ....mini rant over  ;D

Just done roast chicken and stuff

Fortunately I only cook 3 days out of 7 (my husband does Mon - Thurs usually) so I don't have to think of much. I'm still working part-time although I could easily cook another day - my H enjoys it though so I'm not saying anything! I do a roast or BBQ depending on season, on one day, some sort of fishy thing on another (usually have plenty of fairly fresh caught stuff in the freezer) so only one day to think about.  I agree this is the worst part - year in year out thinking of what to cook for all the children and feed the hordes with something that appealed - I'm cooked out!

Good phrase Hurdity and describes it exactly....cooked out. That's the way I feel.

Mind you, one industrial catering job I had.....I was part of a team of chefs who cooked for 500 men per day......now then I was definitely cooked out  ;D

I hate being volunteered.....I did my neices wedding, and as far as I'm concerned....I'm done. No more thanks.

DH did lots of hand cut chips - too many really.  So I ate those and half my beef for lunch as I was full up  ;).  Cold with some home made pickle will do nicely thanks.  Because of the way Mums shopped in the 1940s/50s/60s - various vans called with stuff, i.e. wet fish man on Friday, into town on Sat. for fresh meat for Sunday roast; bread twice a week, milk every morning - what to decide on for each meal was pretty much determined as there wasn't the refridgeration we rely upon now.  She had a marble cold slab in the pantry for cooked meats, butter; milk was kept in a pail in the shade and water changed often ......... then Supermkarets were invented  ::)

Duck breast and pilaf last night.  Chicken Pilaf tonight.  very easy, in the 101 suppers cook books.

I choose my recipies before shopping day, usually 5 from tough to easy, a couple of straight forward meals and hope for DH to volunteer a take out too - so not too tough, my books are all easy too.  I do a lot of soups and slow cooked things, gives me more free time.

Sweet stuff once or twice a week.. also make my own bread now... not sure how long this will last, of course one of my main reasons is the cooking stops me 'thinking'.
