If they are on the floor then I am afraid I just jump on them. If they are on the wall or in the sink then its a different story.....OH has to get them or the hoover comes out if he is not there  ::)

The spider catches are long enough to get them without them being able to run up your sleeve  ;)

I would have to open the window first, in short sleeves, before faffing about with spider and contraption!  Bathroom survellience will begin shortly, especially as its been raining and the creatures start deciding its too damp and cold outside! Apparently they are at their largest during the Autumn!  :-X

Have been known to spray spiders with extra hold hairspray than put a tub on top weighed down with a book till someone comes home to dispose of the beast.

Pixie - they are indeed, but I cheat, I use both feet, not subtle. It works OK, as long as hold onto something and don't fall over!   :)

CLKD - you are right about scuttling critters.  Beatles don't bother me - I could put one out quite happily, but anything with more than 4 legs, crabs etc.....whoaaaa  :o   Mrs P would've had some spiders on here by now, if she was still here :-\

I'm happy to have spiders in my house, though I don't like their webs which hold the dust, and I wouldn't touch a very big spider. I never kill anything if I can avoid it, though I have killed mice as I can't have them running around the house!

You can de-sensitise yourself. I used to be scared of daddy-long-legs but when my kids were born I decided that I didn't want to pass my irrational fears onto them, so I gradually forced myself to stay in the same room as one, and now I can pick one up. My kids, I'm pleased to say, aren't frightened of anything, even if they may not be overkeen on handling a creepy-crawly. My daughter is better than my son actually!

When I was about 10 a spider ran up the leg of my jeans - I remember it ran right up to my knee, and I had both hands round the knee of my jeans and could see it wriggling around underneath - suffice to say I sat on the floor and screamed blue murder.  My big sister helpfully grabbed a big book and slammed it on my knee.  Talk about traumatised - now when I see one, it brings it all back!!!!

I am having my bathroom ripped out and a new one put in - since the builders have been in, the whole house seems to be crawling with those huge, hunter spiders   :o - it's horrific!

How do spiders come up a plughole or overflow.

Hubby and I have been having a heated discussion  ::)  over this one. He says its not possible as there is always water in the u bend and spiders cant swim under water. He also says that there are very few houses these days that dont have this kind of plumbing.

So who is right......I hate to say it but I dont think its me  ;D....unless there are scuba diving spiders.
