I'm chief spider remover in our ancient house :poke2:  My OH is not keen on the large hairy variety.......I use the glass and cardboard technique, but also the Dyson handheld works well, they are sucked up into the see through container and can then be released into the garden......a little dusty but unharmed  8)

Make sure you close the windows before putting the lights on. In case of problems, send intrepid OH or daughter in to perform the deed. Glass of wine would probably help.

Good luck Ellie! Spiders aren't attracted to light Limpy - apart from flying daddy longlegs of course which arent spiders anyway but I suppose they can be just as scary if you don't like spiders.

I lost one this morning up my dressing gown sleeve - this is always happening when I try to move one from the bath to outside. It emerged about ten minutes later looking very bemused - must have been the dreadful sights it saw under my dressing gown  ;D

Daddy longlegs aren't as scarey, because they don't move so fast in different directions  x
I have to get undressed before I tackle a spider, just incase it goes up the sleeve!  You deserve a medal Taz!

Is that what's scary about spiders then? I always wondered what it was that people found upsetting!  Daddy longlegs do tend to get tangled up in your hair though which is a strange feeling....

I have just been upstairs to unpack overnight bag,!!! There is no bedside table, but right next to the bed is an old fashioned OPEN fireplace. The room feels creepy and I just know I won't get a wink of sleep, and hubby will go out like a light. I can feel the hairs on my arms standing up now  :'(
Most people don't understand the fear of spiders, and I truly wish I didn't have it......especially tonight  :(

On opening up the fridge , was alarmed as  thought I saw another 8 legged  creature, but fortunately it was only the top of the tomato leaf!  ;D

Could you not dam it up with towels or stick something over it.  Not sure if they like open fire places, in case they get burnt?  :-X

I can never sleep the first night away anywhere, but would close the window and block the fireplace with whatever I could!  :o

Yikes massive spider in the bathroom last night - had to shut all the doors, dam up all the cracks, shut the  windows  :hotflash: and sleep with the light on (live on my own)  still there this morning in the sink.  Managed to give it a bath and remove with a tea towel out of the window :o
I was so confused when I read this Pixie, as I had you mixed up with Pixieboots and knew that Pixieboots lives with partner and has teenage children - had to read back lots of my posts to discover that you are two different people! Mystery solved!
