Haggis, neeps and tatties. It's like winter up here so need something to stick to your ribs.

I'll hazard a guess - turnips.  Swedes work quite well as well.

Neep is Scottish for Turnip. Delicious mashed with butter, wee bit of salt and pepper. Serve with mashed tatties (potatoes) and haggis (not vegetarian haggis which is evil).
Ye canny whack it !!

Sorry - meno-brain!  :-[  At least I chose a root vegetable which ended in "nip" so I was in the right area!  ::) ;D
I love all root veg mash. Have recently started freezing small portions of mashed potato for Mum to heat up and am planning to try different variations in the winter.

Tonight was .... pork chops, fresh runner beans and baby new potatoes which I roasted with rosemary, garlic, S & P.

Dessert was fresh mango and raspberries with a meringue nest and low fat creme fraiche.

Purplenanny. If you want to try a Neep buy a whole one (sometimes supermarkets sell a half) but don't buy the ready cubed in a bag. For some reason don't taste quite the same.
Remove the tough outer layer and cut the rest into large cubes, boil in salted water till tender, drain, mash with butter and season to taste.
Enjoy!

Tonight we are having stuffed Marrow and jacket potatoes.  I do a lovely spicy variation and it is DIVINE!  Minced beef or lamb, rice, onion, garlic, ginger, chilli, turmeric, coriander, tomatoes, raisins, parsley etc.   It's a very economical meal too - the marrow cost 40p and it's a big one.
