My daughter can get out of her village at last! A raised causeway has been built over the flood water. They have been able to exit along a farm track and narrow roads that added an extra 20 minutes to every journey. A rather torturous journey, dodgy in the dark, but at least they were able to get to work. Their neighbour's child has been rather ill, needing several trips to the doctors. It's been very difficult for them.
They can't drink the water, not even to boil. Their water comes from a spring, which keeps being contaminated. As my little grandson has taken to drinking the bath water, my daughter has had to been inventive. She has bought a large squishy garden tub and fills it up with heated water imported from our house and friends. Makes you appreciate being connected to mains water.
The river that flowed through their village for the first time in 67 years is drying up. More dry weather please!
