Saw pictures on TV of snow drifts on Arran. Unbelievable!  They say this is how our weather will be in future due to global warming. Snow is bad beside DD. Their house is heated by storage heaters and they had to buy an oil fired radiator to help keep house warm. With the baby due any day now, they need a warm house.

There's nowt to stop the snow reaching Arran  :o - no hedges, no fences, flat ......... bit like the Fens when it blows in from Siberia.  Makes me wonder how we managed before we went 'modern'  ::)  .........

Went out for lunch.  Snowstorm/blizzard started and was swirling around us as we left the restaurant.  Half a mile drive to the office (yep half a mile) and no snow!  Weird!

Went out to lunch too and when we came out of the restaurant it was snowing.

We decided not to have a sweet and went to Waitrose to buy chocolate Magnums Infinity, I am eating one as I type :)

The eastern side of Arran got it worse than the west but it was bad all over the island.

Don't know if you are familiar with the island CLKD but it is very mountainous. In fact it has the second highest mountain in Scotland called Goat Fell, which I have climbed more than once. So it's not flat at all. It's a beautiful place and I can see it every day.

It's snowing here again but just blowing around. It's so cold.

Arran is kown as little Scotland  :).   It apparently captures all the terrains of Scotland in one island.

Have you been FW.

It is one of my favourite places and if the fares were a bit cheaper I would go more often.

Lots of wonderful memories for me on the island.

It's Scotland in miniature.

Oh my type of place then.  From the news reels it looks flat  ::) - so one side can be snowbound, the other ????

Any properties for sale up there Honeybun, next time I want a VIEW  :-*

Warmer today.  Snow hanging around for more though  ::)

It's a beautiful island. I went when I was about 16 and was most impressed. Never been able to persuade hubby to go though. Mum & I attempted Goat Fell when we were there. First we were attacked by the midges, then due to the excessive heat we had to give up at the castle. We weren't exactly prepared for the walk looking back on it. But oh the view was breathtaking!

Just a rowing boat CLKD   ;D

There is a ferry runs every hour. It is about 12 miles off the West Coast and is simply beautiful. There is a different atmosphere on the island and it has stunning views and wildlife. I have visited almost every year since I was a child and never tire of it.

The ferry is huge and getting very expensive if you want to take the car.

Google it and have a look.

You mean there's a ferry takes you these days. I went in the days of rowing boats?  ;D ;D

My brother says its expensive to go over with a car these days. He used to holiday there many moons ago. Even played with the Kinks once when they were in their heyday.

I have been twice Honeybun.   The last time with a friend in a SmartCar.  Not the car to go around the island.  It has undulating roads and the car undulated with it.  I felt seasick and we were on the road   ;D.   Prior to that it was about 30 years ago.   My OH used to fish there regularly - he loves it too.

You asked about houses for sale CLKD.   There is a very high percentage (compared to other areas in the UK) of second homes owned there and there is concern that the natural population will wane.  The same study showed that around 75% of the second homes are owned by Scots.

I did not know that the ferry with car is expensive now.  Cannot remember the last costs.
I really like the West Coast of Scotland and although I have not visited many, I do like the west coast islands I have visited.

Perhaps time for another visit - perhaps this summer when my brother and his family are over from Chicago - after they have walked the West Highland Way (I will watch from afar hehe).
