My Dad used to sing to my mum

"If You Were The Only Girl In The World"

We played it at her funeral along with "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" by Julie Garland.

Anyone remember them?

I remember both of them!

Our songs were ones by Bad Company - totally different era. especially "Can't Get Enough".  Well speaks for itself really!   ;) ;) ;)

Frank Turner is popular on here.  Can anyone recommend one of his best albums as I think hubby would like him.

Hi Joyce - Poetry of the Deed is his latest one. I love the one before that called Love Ire and Song but he has quite a few out and all are a bit different. Sleep is for the Weak is another favourite - oh dear I am not being very helpful. If you check out his website you can listen to some on there I think http://www.myspace.com/frankturner   If you go to the myspace link it should be on there if you scroll down a bit. Most stuff is on sale through Amazon or Xtra Mile Recordings http://www.xtramilerecordings.com/  Come to one of his gigs - they are great fun.

Today's track for me has to be  Chan Chan by Buena Vista Social Club.  It took me back to all my holidays in Cuba.  Chilling on a sultry night, as the sun dips on the horizon, sipping pina coladas.  Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I've never heard of that - is it this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6rRJP8rVg-4

I can see how it would take you back to fun times if it is.

Well my track today is really sentimental and soppy! When OH and I first fell in love - three years ago - he was working abroad and I was in a really bad place relationship wise and in my whole personal life. To get together seemed impossible. He was brilliant at keeping my spirits up even though he was 4000 miles away. He sent this to me and though we are middle-aged people it just said it all. It still gives me goosebumps and takes me straight back to Heathrow departures. We are never too old to fall in love.

What was your song during those times CLKD? You must have had something that you both listened to during times apart which drew you closer together.

That's the one Taz.  See vid even had the famous camel buses of Havana.  Imagine over 100 people standing in that, no air con.  Last time we were there they'd moved onto bendy buses, just not the same.
Love your song.  I'd have been crying!

This was our song when we first met, I am listening to it now and it brings it all back, I was so in love. We played it all the time in the car.

Thats beautiful Ladyjane - have got it playing now.

This has got me thinking about the other tracks in my life.

When I met my first husband at the tender age of 16 this was our track - he was my life a bit like you are with yours CLKD - I thought I would die if he left me. He did leave me after a couple of years of marriage (I was 21) but I didn't die and learnt self sufficiency (maybe a little bit died thinking of it but it shaped who I am now) Anyway this is the track http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_aIhh9nFYv4&a=GxdCwVVULXf3rOsPZMk2_TWljqYu15b1   turn up your speakers.

Oh that brought back memories too Taz.  Think Ozzy might do himself a mischief if he was to shake his head about like that these days!  ;D

They do say that more people make love to Julio then any other artist, then why does my OH like to listen to golden oldies now!!! the nineties are not that far away and I still love Julio.

Taz you do have different tastes in music to me but I enjoyed Ozzie.

That was then though - wouldn't listen to that now! Have had quite a few "our songs" since then....all have a special place in my memory.
