Yes moisturizers not enough for VA?
« on: November 20, 2023, 11:05:50 AM »

I am using Ovisten every night internally for VA, and it works well for me, I definitely notice if I accidentally miss a dose.

But I am still really dry almost constantly on the outer parts of labia. Ovestin  used externally made me irritated and sore, so I used Sylk and for a few months now  YES. Whilst it gives instant relief, it never lasts long at all. I have to use it each time I go for a wee and many times throughout the day when I feel dry and uncomfortable. The leaflet says gives up to 3 days relief... Well not for me at all,

Any one got any suggestions? Thanks

If it's not to inconvenient keep on with that regime.  I find that KY Jelly on the outer labia helps.  It's more of a gel .......... Nivea might be too sticky though it lasts well.

How is the colour of your urine, mayB it's too acidic = soreness?

SarahT, an emollient such as Epaderm or Hydromol might work better on the labia, as it will be longer lasting.

I'm assuming it must have been a man who wrote that load of rubbish in the leaflet, I do hate such misleading statements aimed at women which we end up hoping and believing in.
Anyways, Yes and Sylk are very thin based moisturisers and every visit to the loo will wash most of it away. A more concentrated moisturiser like KY might suit you best, but I don't know of any other, perhaps some research is needed here for a more thicker based feminine moisturiser.

Keep us updated if you do find one that suits.

Thanks ladies,

My wee seems ok, I try to stay hydrated. I think Nivea down my lady bits would be worse as it is so sensitive, the YES I was prescribed is a loose  gel consistency. KY always makes me sting too. Grr. Use YES or Sylk during decor on applicator of ovestin as I know they don't irritate.

Yep...man or robot probably was the author of leaflet.😡

Will look into epaderm and hydromol though to see if they may be better suited. Thanks

Is it Yes WB or OB? My pelvic/continence specialist recommended OB as the water based one doesn't stay put as long. I am also on full HRT and vagifem but it's still 'very poor down here' as she noted during my last examination.  :(

Her voice was very muffled as she inspected my nether regions  ;D I also had the same response from my GP when she had a look.  ;D

To use Yes OB as often as possible along with continuing with full HRT and vagifem. Episiotomy scars haven't helped as the skin is very thin now  :-\

When I had the mirena coil fitted I was told how sore and red it looked as well. I was prescribed a steroid cream to use as and when.

And just opened the new box of YES.  It is not WB but VM ( vaginal moisturiser apparently )  is the OB  longer lasting as it is oil based??

I assume so. It's the only one I've tried.

Ovestin applied to the episiotomy scars  ought to help.
