Football!! Coronavirus - 2021 !!
« Reply #151 on: June 22, 2021, 12:36:32 PM »

So initially I thought that Boris told footballers that they had to social distance in between shots; no hugging, high5ing etc.; now we find out that 2 Scottish players are self isolating after 1 player tested positive.  Shouldn't the whole team, as well as their opponents last Friday night be sent home?  Because doesn't this Virus spread ..... taking a few days between each victim?

Why are footballers 'above' the rest of the general public?

A couple of the racers in MotoGP Paddock have reported +ve tests this weekend.  They have all been jabbed.  Wether they will feel ill with it we probably son't find out.  It can be caught and passed even after vaccinations.

Andrew Marr isolated ?

Yes, he missed his show last week as he was in isolation. He reckons he got it from Cornwall when he was covering the G8 summit

Which of course could have been done via 'ZOOM' like the rest of us have had to do ?  I do wonder how many of those who attended with Biden going into Mainland Europe after Cornwall, went home with anything  :-\.  It's been noted in the Sat papers how close all those attending the G8 were i.e. at that BarBQ! where as the rest of us in England should be keeping our distances.

I’d read that those attending the summit from around the world didn't have to quarantine.
Also, today it’s been announced that some special executives coming into the UK will be able to skip quarantine if they are bringing “ substantial benefits” to this country.
I give up ....

No doubt. Exactly what benefits all these elite are bringing remains a mystery, all I can see is more COVID cases🤨 There’s definitely a two tier system in operation.

Andrew Marr said he had COVID last week, despite being fully vaccinated. It was like a very nasty cold. Well the vaccines prevented far more serious illness or death, but shows you still need to carry on taking care.

My son has covid and he had first vaccine 4 weeks ago. The vaccine doesn't appear to prevent infection but prevents people from becoming seriously ill - though I would like to see the stats on that broken down by age  ie are the older people who are getting it that have been vaccinated also not getting seriously ill?

Sorry to hear this Hurdity. I hope that he recovers quickly. You do need two doses for better protection but I can't remember the percentage difference between the first and second doses. Must be online somewhere!

Having both doses is supposed to keep even elderly people (over 60) out of hospital but, yes, being fully vaccinated doesn't mean you won't catch it or transmit it which is where the current social distancing rules are supposed to protect us.

I feel it would be useful for us if data was published as to how many current cases have had either none, one or two doses.

I'm finding it frustrating how many people think that by having both vaccines they won't catch or transmit it but it is difficult to wade through all of the info to work out risk.

This is in part, the problem with the vaccine programme.  Neither time were we told that we can carry and catch it!  I was given a leaflet but can't remember what that stated  :-\
