A jay appeared in our garden this morning.   The 1st seen here for over 25 years.  There are new housing estates popping up: 250 on one plot so trees/woodland have been felled  :'(.  So badgers  >:( and now a jay have moved literally, over the road into our plot - hence no hedgehogs since end of April  :'(

We also have 4 green finches underneath the feeders  :)

Forsythia - is that a special winter flowering variety? Very unusual whatever it is as March and April are the normal months. Apparently it can flower early if stressed during summer and we haven't had a proper winter yet - but still very strange if so?

Nope.  It flowers when it likes, I gave it a hard prune in August so we had a 2nd flowering in October.  Lovely pale yellow flowers and it roots like a weed from cuttings.  On a South facing wooden fence so well sheltered.

Winter flowering honeysuckle; on the same fence; will be next which allows early insects: and I saw a ladybird flying by my nose earlier  :o : to feed.

Had 90 mins on hands and knees.  Cutting off hellebore leaves to put into the Council bin.  Found snowdrops poking through  :-* about 2" tall.  Hopefully they won't get caught by the frost but all get sunshine part of the day.  Hellebore buds look healthy, one plant in full flower.  It is forsythia, I wouldn't buy a jasmine that doesn't have perfume  ;)

Lots of dead, soggy leaves particularly off the walnut tree - that's for later, stopped for cheese, biscuits, grapes., chocolate  :whist:

Another hour outside: can see progress being made  :).  Robin was close by.  I have found the root of a hop plant which over-took fruit trees during 2019 instead of rambling along the fence  ;D so that will need to be dug out and shifted.  Blue sky.  Chilly wind.  Indoors now.

Is the chime motion activated?  He's been ringing your bell all the while you were away?

Bull finches are lovely but destroy buds on the fruit trees  :-\

How's Bob?
