Nasty though.  All chicken keeps have to put their birds under cover ......... no more free ranging.  How 1 is supposed to stop wild birds in the runs though  :-\ ........ our 5 had the run of our garden so were mixing .  If it's a bad outbreak they have to be kept in a shed to prevent mixing with birds which can carry the 'flu.

I have counted 25 goldfinches in the front garden on the phone lines, waiting  ;D.  I need to get more feeders out there  8).  There are 5 already and 2 in the back garden that I can see from the kitchen window.  ? the more feeders, the more goldfinches ?

I can't seem to stop the crows on our feeders, they are so clever, one stands on top and bangs the feeder up and down and the sunflower hearts fall to the ground where all his crow buddies are waiting   >:(

Do keep dogs under control, one was trampled to death  :'( by deer yesterday.

The squirrel was found by the side of the road, almost dead. Warmed through and sleeping in a thermo wool hat  :-*

However:  " A home is being sought for a cat found abandoned inside a wheelie bin after being nursed back to health.
The Scottish SPCA revealed in September that the older white Persian cat was abandoned inside a box in the bin in the cemetery at Belhelvie Church in Balmedie, Aberdeenshire.

"The rescued cat is estimated to be about 16. ... "     Bastards  :'(

Aahhh many a happy day at Balmedie beach  :)
I can't understand cruelty like that, especially as Aberdeen has a fabulous cat and dog home, they will take any animal,no questions asked they even have a safe box if you don't want to ring their bell, rather than just dump an animal outside overnight.
My dogs are like that, yay, let's chase the goats, until said goats turn on their heels and square up to them, then they're both off in the opposite direction   ;D

Dormice - pretty little critters?  Well apparently not!

The Romans brought dormice to England, they liked them soaked in honey so built special small honey pots for them to gorge themselves in B4 being eaten.  Now apparently a larger variety has appeared across parts of the UK and it will: like grey squirrels killing our Native reds : eventually take over so that our 'native' dormice will die.  They are already endangered and although not indiginous; not many critters are in this country, William has a lot to answer 4  ;D ; it would be sad to have spent £Ks on conservation to have it all go to waste  :'(
