A passenger flight was delayed when a baby hedgehog crossed the runway as the pilot was preparing for take-off.

The Loganair flight was taxiing at Stornoway Airport, on Lewis, when the creature made a surprise appearance.

The captain brought the Saab 340 aircraft to a halt at about 17:20 on Thursday and waited patiently for two minutes while the hoglet crossed.

The 30 passengers were informed of the reason for the delay in their journey to Inverness in the Highlands.

Oh - the hoglet story is so sweet CLKD!   :-*

No, not sandwiches for the picnic - chicken salad!  House is right on the beach, so easy to prepare a meal & take it out there without having to pack it up.

That robin has followed me to the front of the house from the back!  He's whistling softly but I'm out of meal worms until Tuesday  ::).  At least he's not shouting at the kitchen window reflection  ;D

We have one of those camera things at our door and every morning around 5am two magpies sit on the car then hop onto window ledge and peck at the window,it's hilarious really as it's my daughters bedroom and she could never understand why she kept wakening EVERY morning at that time, mystery solved ;D

I love our camera.  Unravels a multitude of issues.  We have blue-tits go round the windows every morning  ::)

Raining now so they are all under cover.

Saw a baby hedgehog running about a neighbour's garden in broad daylight! They had been having some hedge clearance done so hopefully it was OK. Too early/warm for hibernation though fortunately although maybe it was staking out its patch for when it gets cold? So cute - haven't seen one for years and years!

Also a few days ago very large flocks of martins flying over the village over several days - hundreds of them on migration south. Ours actually went a month ago though (the ones breeding on the side of our outbuilding).

How small a baby?  Is there evidence of poo around?  Any sign of mummy .......... put some cat food out?  We haven't seen ours since end of April  :'(.  DH put the camera out last night to C what's moving around in the early hours.  It films in black until dawn when it shows day-light.

Haven't seen our blackbird either so maybe it will show up.

No hedgehogs  :'( since April - ? badgers  >:(

Sparrow hawk has visited twice: last week she caught a bird, this morning I shooed her away then moved the feeders into the open.  Shame as I liked watching the blue-tits on the nuts opp the kitchen window.

Flocks of Fieldfares and Redwings have been seen flying through - on their way north - but our resident winter visitors that hang around our fields and eat apples from the orchards around the village have not yet arrived. Also haven't yet heard their lovely chattering sound - the Fieldfares - which always thrills me as a true sound of cold frosty autumn weather and the coming winter....
