Palm oil
« on: November 19, 2018, 03:06:18 PM »

On the back of the withdrawn advert regarding orang utans and the devastation over-all of habitation, I wonder how many products contain palm oil of any type?

We are rethinking our quick home 'fish and chip' night since reading palm oil on the back of Youn*s frozen battered cod fillets box.

There is a difference between 'dirty' palm oil and 'sustainable' palm oil. There's a list somewhere showing which companies are achieving what. The problem seems to be that alternatives are also not kind to the environment. So difficult.

I have! I've had 3... lol.
Now, where's that cake?   ;D

Taz, I think Iceland is giving up on palm oil.
Is dirty oil the oil they get from a source where they don't care where it's come from?
And sustainable oil is sourced from a place where they ‘farm' it.....?

I think so. There's a woman in our local pub who's been boycotting anything that uses palm oil for years now so I've heard a bit about it. Her husband, though, yearns for a 'proper' bar of soap, shower gel etc etc. Will try to find out more re dirty and sustainable palm oil.

I'm not sure if this has been posted already but it can help us make a choice between companies https://www.actforwildlife.org.uk/get-involved/take-conservation-action/take-the-sustainable-palm-oil-challenge/shopping-list/

Tnx so much.  I wonder whether 'palm oil' is called something else, i.e. SLS ......... because I can't find evidence on anhythig recently purchased, i.e. bubble bath.
