Joining Tibolone Tribe
« on: January 03, 2017, 12:16:11 PM »

Hi - well decided to give Tibolone another try. Had a go in May 2016 but had to stop on day 22 due to unbearable VA along with constant UTI. I was never advised about Vagifem or any other treatment which could help VA.

The reason I want to try again is because I feel I am existing but not living or enjoying my life. Although I am on Oestrogel with separate progesterone still experiencing :

Severe Fatigue
No Libido
Anxiety
No interest in life
Severe hip pain
sort of low blood sugar shakiness

After reading so many good reports I just want to give it another try.

On day 5 first 2 days on half tablet, last 3 on full tablet. Feel a little spacey, dizzy, flushes and nauseas but this could be due to changing from oestrogel as I would imagine it will take about 4 weeks to get into my system

Did anyone else feel dizzy when first starting Tibolone?

Hi Warwick.I have had the tablet for 3 weeks now half a tablet.  I did not experience dizzy as such but nausea has always been my issue. With or without tibilone nausea has always bothered me and I take maxalon for it.
I will be visiting gynea next week and hopefully find some more answers as I am getting impatient with my perimenopause. Exactly same symptoms like yours but add big time dihherea and nausea weight loss. I think just try it out for one week drinking lot of water to help out. I just hope it helps us. Please do update as I shall follow you and find some answers

Cheering you on Warwick, and hoping the Tibolone does the trick for you! :)

I'm very interested in maybe trying it myself....... ;)

xxxxxxx

Oh, and just a thought - Tibolone is weakly estrogenic so I guess your levels are dropping a bit right now from stopping the Estrogel as the Tibolone gets to work. Lots going on at the moment, so remember to be kind to yourself whilst it all works itself out! :D ;)

Hello ladies. Happy new year!

Warwick - yes I was dizzy when I first started on Tibolone and started on half a tablet for the first 3 weeks, then a full tablet. The dizziness passed after 5 weeks. I am just about to start week 8 and feel so calm and chilled out (although quite tired at times) , as anxiety was my problem, so I am over the moon that it's worked for that!

Stick with it and the dizziness should dissappear 😀 xx

Jules 53

Thank you so much - feel better that its not just me that has experienced the dizziness. Was plagued with dizziness in peri which has led me to me a little agrophoic.

I know its early days but hopefully in a few weeks it will ease. What time of day do you take your tablet?? I take it at 9.00am and find Im shakey in the morning. I also take 125 thyroxine at 7.00am.
Just wondering if I should carry on with full tablet or just take half for a week and change the time I take it ??

Any advice ladies ??

Hi Jules and warwick. I take my tibilone half a tablet at night 9 pm so may be that is why I do not feel dizzy. Jules you give me hope by telling me that anxiety has been taken care of. This is the sole reason for me to hrt otherwise I could maybe ignore some flushes and fatigue. Did you have nausea as well with anxiety. I am trying to rule out my gall bladder stones as another issue that goes with it.  I have been taking it for  3 weeks and when i asked my gp yesterday about full tablet she said wait to see the specialist next week and continue with half a tablet. Also why do you take thyroxine? How does one discover about thyroid. So may be half a tablet and change to night. See what Jules has to say about her timing as well. Hope we find answers in 2017. Stay in touch as this the first thing I do girls in the morning before I start anything is check this forum. It gives me hope as my anxiety is worse in the morning with nausea. Thanks

Also going through posts Suzzane 1967 also mentioned experiences of spaced out and dizziness with her starting tibilone. I wonder how her journey is going?

Hi Pam

Anxiety bad for me too esp in the mornings. This is the main reason for changing to Tibolone as so many ladies say it helps. I know mine is hormone related as suffered after the birth of my daughter, lasted 3 years. This however has been bad the last 3 years with no let up.

I was very shaky and panicky this morning but as I said before I think the first few weeks will be bad as adjusting to the Tibolone and coming off the Oestrogel. Flushes and nausea today.....  >:( determine to carry on.

How is Suzzanne doing with the Tibolone??

Hi ladies. My sole reason for taking HRT was also for anxiety. As you say Pam, I could also cope with the hot flushes and fatigue, but the feeling of being on 'red alert' constantly was unbearable.

I started by taking my tablet at night but it made me feel really anxious in the morning. I now take it with my breakfast at 7 am in the morning and that is best for me as it has a calming effect. Try taking it in the morning and that may help.

Keep going with it ladies, I am confident it will work for your anxiety😀.

Keep in touch xx

Hi Pam

I've just started Tibolone today. Feeling a bit woozy. Took a whole tablet but after reading posts think I may take half tomorrow and gradually increase. I've been off HRT for about 3 months so I'm not transitioning from anything.

I am happy to take it slowly and can't afford to be woozy at work so will try different times as well and report back.

Good luck!! I hope it works for you and everyone else giving this thing a go!

Sorry Warwick but I have hit rock bottom today with it. I just cannot cope with it. I don't know what it is just me or tibilone. But I am anxious 24 hours this week. Surely paced out , jelly legs a bit of thrush and chest pains. Worst is I cannot sleep no more that 4 hours for last 3 nights. Really hit the rock bottom and really struggling as if sitting an counting minutes going by and keep thinking of this issue.
I am completely lost and don't know what to do? Because I am holidays it just made it worse may be. Sorry for this bad message but really don't know what to do or talk to someone.

Hi ladies.
Pam I'm so sorry to hear that things are not good for you at the moment. It sounds as if your hormones are fluctuating all over the place whilst your body is getting used to Tibolone. I think you're almost a month taking it aren't you? I remember that my anxiety hit a peak at about that mark but gradually got better.😀.

Having said that I have been having quite bad aches and pains in my legs and chest over the last 24 hours. I did a workout the other night and that is what caused it I think. Also,  when we are feeling anxious, we tense our bodies without realising it and this is what can cause aches and pains. About 6 or 7 years ago, when I started Peri I was rushed into hospital with a suspected clot on the lung. To cut a long story short, after they had treated it for 6 months with warfarin,  they realised that I never had a clot in the first place but that I had hyperventilation syndrome which was causing panic attacks!  This sounds stupid but I had physio to teach me how to breathe properly! So every time I feel anxious I focus on my breathing which calms me down. Not breathing properly can cause so many other problems in the body and we don'the realise we are holding our breath which stops oxygen from circulasting around the body. Have you tried mindfulness? You can download mindfulness techniques and exercises on You Tube. Maybe give it a try it really helps. Sending a big hug and hoping you feel better soon Xx

Hi all

Pam I'm really sorry to hear that you are feeling anxious. I've realised that I have no real idea how Tibolone actually works?? Am going to do more research today.

I was diagnosed with atrophic endometrium on Thursday and advised to get back on oestrogen asap. I asked for Tibolone because I'm intolerant of progesterone like so many others and the thought of more periods didn't do it for me. But I know my E is incredibly low. Hope I've done the right thing but then again GP said just go back and try something else if it doesn't work.

Pam maybe you need to see your GP and discuss? Doesn't seem right you feeling like this after a month?

First night after tablet 1 taken at 6pm - bad night. Sweats worse than usual and wakeful from 5am onwards. Have a slight headache but that's not all that unusual for me.

Today have taken half a tablet at 9am to see how that feels today.

Teaching tomorrow morning - hoping to feel okay for that but I've been teaching through hot flushes and migraines so hopefully should be okay. Panic, panic!
