I'm not exactly still up but I'm awake and have been since 4am :(
My body clock thinks it's 5am, like that's any better! I long to sleep through the night.

Hi, I am up as well - I fell asleep at 8pm after working from 10-4.  Woke up at 11 15pm.  I haven't slept since & ended up going downstairs at 1 am & went on here for quite a while, after which I did the ironing until 5am.  Still awake & desperate to skeep but even if I went back to bed, I would wake DH up!  Took a 5mg valium tablet to help me sleep. Xx

Girls - did you wake because you were cold?

For once...in fact in a long time I slept like a log.
Oh how I wish it would happen again tonight.

I snuggled up and I'm never cold in bed. If you suffer from being cold the best thing to do is wear socks. If your feet are cold you never sleep well.

Not too cold or too hot either, just awake. I did fall asleep again but then the alarm went off and I felt cream-crackered.

I seem to have a window of opportunity to get to sleep and that window is shrinking. If I'm not asleep within half an hour of going to bed then it's not going to happen and if and when I drop off I waken up regularly.

Blooming awful and the night hours seem so long.

I know that feeling honeybun - that's why I started going to bed later. If I go before 12 I can't get to sleep. I do wake up every fifty minutes or so through the night but only enough to know I'm awake. I know this is what's contributed to my fibro though as I don't get into the muscle repairing sleep.

Taz, your comment is interesting. My sister has been djagnosed with fibrmalgia (sp?). Is this what you refer to?  She doesn't sleep well either, can you explain re the muscle repairing sleep please, I am a bit ignorant of this. I want to help her all I can as I cannot bear to see her suffer so much

Hi purplenanny. It is thought that fibromyalgia often occurs in people with poor sleep due to the fact that you need to be asleep for a certain length of time in order for muscle repair to begin to take place. I can't remember a lot of it now but sleep goes in cycles and if you are constantly waking up - even if only for a few minutes - before the cycle is complete then the cycle starts again and you don't reach the all important repairing stage. This is from the Fibro website http://www.fmauk.org/what-is-fm-highlights-203'showall=&start=3

The main medication for fibro is one of the older tricyclic anti depressants. These are prescribed in a low dose because they have a pain relieving element but also improve the quality of sleep. What help has your sister been given?
