Evorel 65 and Zentiva 100mg
« on: Today at 10:08:41 AM »

Hi All,

I started on elleste duet 1mg tablets about 8 or 9 months ago, but after 5 months asked to change due to side effects (severe migraines, terrible breast tenderness and continual bleeding). I asked for patches and micronised progesterone, and he gave me combined patches but I didn't get on with them either (can't remember why now) so he gave me evorel 75 and zentiva progesterone, both of which have been fine for last couple of months. He has me taking the progesterone,100mg, 25 days out of a 28 day cycle, I'm not sure why. I was having a regular period up until this month and I've had no bleed (but bad PMS). Is it ok for me not to have a bleed?

As you have pms it's likely your bleed is on it's way though it's also possible there hasn't been enough build up. Your own cycle will be stronger than the hrt one.

Nobody needs to bleed at all unless they want to.

I have been on the combined oral contraceptive pill continuously for 16 years and am completely bleed free.

If you enjoy spending every 4th week bleeding you may prefer a typical sequential regime where the progesterone is taken 12 or 14 days out of 28.

The dose of progesterone is generally twice that of a continuous (or almost continuous like 25/28) regime.

Additionally your estrogen level whether endogenous or from treatment would need to be high enough to stimulate the endometrium otherwise there is nothing to shed, however this would not usually be considered a sole indication for increasing an otherwise suitable dose.
