Methylation
« on: January 09, 2026, 06:17:00 PM »

I just had a genetic methylation test and I have the MTHFD1 TT gene (strong) CT (medium), MTR (strong), PEMT (strong) and the COMT (medium) plus high transmitter ones.

So main thing is that this shows I do not metabolise oestrogen (and serotonin) very well and I am more prone to low progesterone levels.

I have ordered the MTHR supplement as this puts the folate back but in a way I should be able to process it.

Does anyone else have similar results and have issues tolerating oestrogen supplementation and their own oestrogen spikes?

Hey - I haven’t had the test but was considering it. Who did you use?

I am autistic and have adhd, hyper mobile joints and also a rare genetic. Disease called hypophosphatasia.

I strongly suspect I have methylation issues as I barely absorb estrogen from my transdermal HRT, I’ve tried every type and on double the licensed dose. If I have a drop or spike in estrogen I’m flooded with horrendous migraines and other symptoms. I’ve even had migraines and bloating from vaginal estrogen. I’ve never been able to tolerate progesterone so settle with a mirena coil but unlike the usual 3 month settling period it took me over a year.

I’m just one of those people 😂

Would be so interested to hear how you get on with the supplements!

Hey, I used the Stride test that included methylation and nutrition.

I did try the supplement yesterday but I had a really severe headache and backache so think it will be too strong for me.

I am just going to work with the nutritional advice - mainly avoiding fortified grains as my body cannot process the folic acid (which is going to be in all whole grains from Dec 2026 🙄). It explains why I feel so anxious after eating sourdough bread which is full of folic acid!
