Banning of Christmas Songs?
« on: December 20, 2025, 07:03:05 PM »

I see concerns have been raised about "Baby it's cold outside" because it's a man trying to persuade a woman to stay with him, "Do they know it's Christmas" because last year 'singer Ed Sheeran shared a statement made by the musician Fuse ODG, a long-time Band Aid critic, who argues such initiatives “perpetuate damaging stereotypes that stifle Africa’s economic growth, tourism and investment, ultimately … destroying its dignity, pride and identity"', and Jingle Bells because it has recist origins.
Why do people have to look for stuff to complain about  :-X :-X

So many are so easily offended.  Well that's their problem.

What weird times we live in.

I consider it my duty as a citizen to widen their horizons  ;D. If anyone takes offence, tough. I am offended by their offence.

 ;D

Personally I would ban muzzac all year round, in B&Q I can hardly hear myself think!  C.mas songs are OK from 22nd until Boxing Day.

It's the same with Strictly this year: Amber was called in at the last minute, she had a few hours to learn her first dance with Nikita; because she has a background of stage work, Critics were soon at her with bad words.  What those who have never danced don't realise and as Nikita stated last night, proper dancing is totally different from what is seen on the West End and Broadway. None the less energetic and thrilling but far less detailed than ballroom and Latin dancing.  Why can't people accept that to have a Show such as Strictly there has to be a few with dance experience.!

I'll get off my Soap Box now  :whist:  Me, I couldn't walk across the floor in those heels

It's like they go looking for reasons to be offended, often hoping to make a few pounds. Sad really  :'(
