HRT, Adenomyosis & changing to Mirena
« on: December 17, 2025, 04:32:54 PM »

Hello all …hope everyone’s managing Christmas chaos….
Recently diagnosed with adenomyosis and GP has suggested coming off Utrogestan (cyclical) and having a Mirena fitted. Im using 2 pumps of Oestrogel and everything seems generally managed ok.

I’m a bit worried about the Mirena as I have heard bad things but aware it’s not everyone’s experience! Just looking to see if anyone’s experienced similar or had any useful advice for me!
Many thanks

I love love love the Mirena...had one in for about 20 years (not the same one!) Doctor wouldn't let me have another last time in 2020 when I went onto HRT and I had to take progesterone tablets.  Kept spotting and didn't get on with them, saw specialist gynae and he put me back on mirena and haven't looked back really...no spotting or anything.  I know some people have had bad experiences but you get that with everything I think.  Plus people are more likely to talk about bad experiences...

This is wonderful to hear thank you! So happy it works for you.
You’re right as you generally hear about the bad things so it seems that’s the case when hopefully it isn’t …
Fingers crossed !
