Appointment went well. Had a bladder scan. All clear. Putting me on some medication you take over time to help the stinging urine and the uncomfortable feeling. Hmmm. Now should I be on estradiol or maybe I was misdiagnosed? Lol. Will it do any harm to keep on with pessaries for the meantime ?

Difficult to advise you if you don't mention the medication you have been prescribed, do you know what it is?

Hi. Not yet. He said he will contact my doctor he said it would be something long term so I'm guessing some sort of nerve medication. I was meaning do you think they thought maybe it was present menapause and it isn't after all just something else entirely ?

Do you mean Pregabalin as that is given for nerve pain ?

You’ve been to Urology department where they may not prescribe estradiol anyway.

Our lower regions are covered by different departments that often don’t understand each other.

I would continue the vaginal estrogen regardless because far more harm occurs from lack of estrogen than from using it.

I would also advise checking the anticholinergic burden of whatever the medication is that you have been prescribed.

Minusminnie. I don't know what they are giving me yet ... Have to wait for the surgeon to get in contact with doctor to know. Probably something less strong than that. There is quite a few nerve pain medications:) .. I am already on estrdiol pessaries been on them 2 months now.

Also don't forget about the rest of your body.

44 is relatively young to be losing your estrogen and whilst other organs and tissues such as bones, heart, blood vessels etc may not protest as loudly as the urogenital tract, they still deserve consideration in order to protect against avoidable health problems in the future.

Hi bomb I hope you dont mind me jumping in here but im not allowed to post.
Could u pleass tell me how many utrogesten tablets at 100mg id need to suppress the ovaries as im going to go with what another lady did on here to Insert vaginally which when I googled it said 200mg woukd supresss what do yiu think?
Hope you repky hun xxxx get me straight one day xxx but the girl used oral ones and inserted vaginally ....doesn't make a difference does it? Xxx

Bombsh3ll. I am very healthy. Look after myself. Had blood tests all normal range for my organs. I exercise daily. I haven't drank for 6 years and I don't smoke .. The doctor didn't seem to think it was young he said he has given it to women in their 30s for perimenapause. I didn't have no tests he just guessed. So god knows if I need them ... My periods are very regular etc.

I'm guessing you mean with the medication they might put me on. I think it will be amitripline maybe... I think it's used for people with depression and diabetes also as well as nerve pain. Better than being on antibiotics for a long term because I do not have a uti. Just the stinging symptom. He seems 5o think could of been irritation or spasms in bladder as it's a muscle. Lol either way it ain't something sinister and that was my concern !

Personally I would carry on with the Estradiol until 3 months & assess how you are before taking the Amitriptyline or whatever you are given.

It is difficult to say what dose of micronised progesterone would reliably suppress ovulation as it is not used clinically for this due to lack of effectiveness compared to other agents

I believe it would be in the order of 400-600mg daily however such doses are seldom prescribed or tolerated.

Also important to note there is no established dose of micronised progesterone that can be relied upon for contraception.

If you are taking estrogen as well, there would be some inhibitory effect on ovulation from this as well depending on dose.
