New here and need advice....Please!
« on: November 26, 2025, 03:14:02 PM »

Hi Ladies,
I am really hoping someone can help/offer some advice, I am at my wits end!

I'm 48 and have been on Evorel 75 patches since May, with 100mg x2 progesterone on days 15-28, previously on Evorel 50, I tried the gel but that wasn't fun at all!

Anyway, just recently I am experiencing the most awful health anxiety, along with terrible achey muscles. I have been prescribed Citalopram for the anxiety but have yet to take it due to the symptoms - I have taken it in the past and had virtually no libido and the most awful lightheadedness (is that a word??  ;D ) I am also currently under talking therapy for CBT.

I take the usual pain killers for the muscle aches.

I am wondering if I need to up the patch to the 100? Or if maybe testosterone needs to be added?

I don't know what to do, I have an appointment with my GP next month - 4 week wait for a telephone appointment! and want to be armed with as much info as possible so as I can advocate for myself.

I've had a number of blood tests a couple of months ago which were all fine, I have had ultrasound and CT scans which were for kidney stones but were normal for other things - checked adrenals, liver, spleen etc on CT and womb checked on US. So I know there shouldn't be anything wrong but I just cannot get out of my head with it! Its exhausting  :'(

Thank you for taking the time to read, any advice/opinion/suggestion is very welcome.

:welcomemm:  It mayB that your own hormones mean that U need a hike in the HRT.  Hopefully some1 will be along with advice.

A drop of oestrogen may cause the body to become dry: inside and out; scalp, eyes, deep in the ears, nostrils, vagina, skin and the muscles may become lax = aches and pains.

How is the CBT going?  I find that escitalopram works well for me ..... light headedness may be a sing of low oestrogen.

Some find that keeping a mood/food/symptom diary of use.  Could U get an appt quicker with a Nurse Practitioner at your Surgery?

Health anxiety may peak during peri-menopause.

Hi there CLKD,

Thank-you much for taking the tome to reply, it really is appreciated.

I actually have an appointment with a nurse at my surgery tomorrow, ood pressure checks due to having vertigo type symptoms, do you think i should chat to her? Will she be able to do anything?

I'm finding the CBT tricky, I really have to make myself do it, if that makes sense. I'm still early stages with ot though so will persevere.

What is escitalopram please? The same as Citalopram? Can I ask what dose you are on?

Thanks again. 🥰

If your anxiety is a meno symptom it would make more sense to increase oestrogen. How is your libido? If it's approaching zero I'd ask for that too, although it normally means a very long wait for a meno clinic.

U should be able to discuss issues with the Nurse.  Vertigo may B a symptom of low oestrogen.

Escitalopram is the sister to Citalopram.  I take 10mg night and morning for depression.
