I do feel for me progesterone and progestins do make my vagina worse, but I also think that is pretty rare for people to experience that effect to a big extend.
For me though, systemic estrogen doesn’t do the job at all for my vaginal atrophy, so I think starting back up with the vaginal estrogen could definitely help.
For me, I have an appointment in 9 days to get things checked out, I’m not sure what I’m feeling, there seems no room in my vagina and I feel like I might have a prolapse or it might be atrophy. For the last few weeks, I have been alternating using an estriol suppository and cream on the outside and using a moisturizing suppository (with hyaloronic acid) and a similar gel on the outside and that seems to helping a bit with the full feeling, so at least part of my issues is VA. It has become much easier to insert the suppositories now, before I could sometimes hardly fit my finger.
(I’m 50 and still in peri, this last year, my vaginal issues (and menopausal symptoms) just got so much worse, so I’m hoping that means late peri).
