Tibolone
« on: November 09, 2025, 11:01:39 AM »

Hi , I started tibolone yesterday after going through hell for years with different progesterones. I just wondered if anyone can say how long it takes to kick in fir hot flushes and anxiety. I had been on evorel conti for 5 weeks but reacted to it in the same way I have other progesterones( blisters, hives, bloating and low mood) but the hot flushes and heat intolerance had eased a little. Just hoping someone can give positive story on tibolone as ibmve been told its my last option now.

Hopefully some1 will be along with advice.

How old are you and what R your periods up to?

There are many types of HRT  - who suggested that this is your 'last option'  :-\

I had a total hysterectomy in July 2024, reacted to hrt straight after. It triggered autoimmune response and I've since been diagnosed with lupus and autoimmune thyroid disease. Progesterone has always made me feel awful but I get blistering etc and hives. I seemed to be doing ok on the patch until 3 weeks in when I began reacting to everything again and mood dropped. I cant have just estrogen due to remaining endometriosis. Tibolone seemed to be the only option without progesterone.

So mayB those symptoms should have been treated with appropriate medications along with HRT if that is necessary?

Some ADs can ease hot flushes . R U taking anything specific to ease the anxiety and depression?  It's the trial and error that can be so tiring  :-\

Yes I'm on venlafaxine and have been for several years. I seem to be so sensitive to any medications, especially hormones sadly.

My gp. He has said if I don't get on with tibolone then to go back to the patch, even though I was reacting to it!

Time to ask for a referral to a referral to a dedicated menopause clinic, would a GP put a patient with allergic reaction to penicillin back on if other ADs didn't work?

Clinics have waiting lists so getting onto 1 is important, which can be cancelled if no longer required.
