How long with new HRT regime
« on: November 07, 2025, 12:06:44 PM »

I was put on evorel sequi 6 weeks ago and love that I feel rational, more balanced and nearly normal but I have had "withdrawal bleeding" now of 15 days. I know I need time for my body to adjust to any new treatment but did other people have similar experiences?

Generally speaking it can take 3-6 months for bleeding to settle if it is going to.

However what can happen in perimenopause when women use sequential hormone therapy, is they end up having both the iatrogenic withdrawal bleeding AND menstrual bleeding.

Contrary to popular belief these don't always overlap.

This can result in unpredictable bleeding and more days spent bleeding overall than untreated women.

This is a nuisance not an illness, and one that many women just put up with - it will eventually stop when you reach menopause - you will then just be having the withdrawal bleeds unless and until you switch to continuous progestogen.

However nobody at any stage has to bleed at all unless they want to, and there are multiple bleed free alternatives that you could discuss with your GP.

I have been on evorel conti but was having breakthrough bleeding which was fully investigated. Taken off hrt but became a raving loon so gp thought to try this. I will see how things go and I know I shouldn't complain it just wasn't really what I expected GP said I might spot for 2/3 days but didn't really expect anything else however as usual I have tried to overachieve 🤣
