2 weeks ago today I had a hysterocopy with biopsy. The procedure was done first thing in the morning and I initially had some watery bleeding (obvs as they pump you full of water). I then had nothing until much later that day when I had some fresh blood and mild cramping. Through days 2-5 I just had very light bleeding/spotting that was mostly pinky brown. Day 6 I had no blood whatsoever but then on day 7 I had more fresh blood which tailed off again to pinky brown spotting for days 8 & 9. There was then no bleeding on days 10, 11 & 12 so I assumed all finished and stopped wearing a pad. Then late yesterday (day 13) there was more fresh blood and slight cramping. I've woken up this morning (day 14) to a clean pad and on closer inspection the bleeding seems to have pretty much stopped again, but we'll see!
I'm confused as to whether this is normal as information seems to vary widely - some say a week, others 3-6 weeks! They mostly only say to worry if the bleeding is heavy or smelly which it isn't. I've had 3 previous hystercopies but they were also to remove fibroids (which keep growing back) and I recall I bled/spotted for ages after them. The reason for this hysteroscopy was because I'm 58 and still having light periods/erratic spotting. I've already had the results and all clear, the conclusion is "normal changes" and possibly the fibroids pressing on the lining so I least I know nothing sinister going on. I guess this could also be my usual period/spotting & not related to the procedure?
I wouldn't be so concerned but I'm due to go on a beach holiday in a few days so wondered if ok to use tampons as still bleeding when I go swimming, given that it will have been more than two weeks?
