Prolapse Surgey
« on: October 26, 2025, 04:53:41 PM »

This is an update following longstanding bladder issues. Thank you so much for this forum, it’s my go to place for advice. I’m post menopause, 70 this year. Saw a brilliant menopause doc privately who advised vaginal HRT and ring pessary plus consultant for stage 3 prolapse. GPs very supportive.
Ovestin helped but gave me dreadful insomnia and resultant anxiety. They might say it isn’t systemic ….Changed to Vagifem, sleep better, anxiety mostly stopped. Ring pessaries worked really well, sometimes for months then dropped. Tried bigger size each time.
GP eventually asked had I considered surgery for prolapse repair. Having struggled for over 3 years decided to go for it. I’m 10 weeks post surgery, it was straightforward, minimal discomfort.
I had to stop Vagifem for 6 weeks. Interestingly, I had awful osteoarthritis symptoms in both hands. I have swollen joints but never had discomfort. Saw on here about joint issues when coming off HRT.
Back on Vagifem as advised by consultant, after a few weeks, hands much better.
Are my bladder symptoms sorted? Not sure yet. My consultant told me the damage was done when my son was born ( forceps, large head) 38 years ago!

Sounds like it was a success. Well done!

Must be a relief to get the operation and have it go well.
