change from patch to gel
« on: Today at 05:26:00 PM »

hello everyone i was just wondering if anyone has any experience with changing from Estradiol 75micrograms to the oestrogel 750micrograms i have a couple of questions i’ve had it for about 2 weeks and have yet to use it, it says to use 3 pumps into divided doses  i dont really want to be tied to the house to use it 3 times a day so how do you use it? and if anyone has swapped over will i stay as i am or will the symptoms return? the reason the gp has swapped me over is because i was having a reaction to the patches. thank you for taking the time to read

I just started on Oestrogel myself. I think 2 pumps of Oestrogel is equivalent to a 50 mcg patch and 3 to a 75 mcg patch, so if you’ve been on a 75 mcg patch that seems a goid starting dose. I’ve read that if you use more than 2bpumps, you should divide it in 2 doses, so either 2 pumps in the am and 1 in the pm or the other way around. I do 2 pumps (might need to increase to 3) and divide those too, because I get nauseous from fluctuations and this way my levels seem way more level. I just do after breakfast and after dinner, as that is most convenient. If I were to go out for dinner, I’d do that one when I came home. If I were to increase to 3 pumps, I would do 2 at night, because my night sweats are my most bothersome symptom.

thank you for your reply the nausea is what i’m most worried about because i suffer from  Emetophobia which has been my main reason for not changing over yet if it is the same strength do you think that would be an issue?

For me, I feel the gel (and also lenzetto spray) feels more even than the patch. Every time I changed the patch (I only used it for a little while, because I also got a rash from it), I got nauseous for half a day after changing to a new one. I also got nauseous from oral estrodiol, but from the gel not at all.

I think my dosage is a bit low, but I’m giving it a bit longer at 2 pumps, but it does feel very even in 2 dosages. When I used lenzetto, it also felt very even when I did 2 + 1 spray (3 total divided over 2 dosages), so if you switch over to a similar dosage you are on now, I wouldn’t expect a lot of nausea. Everyone responds different of course, but I’ve read more people feel the patch is a bit uneven and less that say the same about gel.
