Peri to menopause bloods
« on: October 17, 2025, 11:29:58 AM »

Hi all
Can I just ask ....when yiu go from peri which I still am as I was 291 on 20th Sept, then 551 27th Sept.(that would suggest I'm still peri right?) Just got them done with other bloods a week apart.

In menopause are blood numbers consistently low?
God you'd think I'd know all this but I don't ....not as good as you ladies .. just curious xxxx

In untreated menopause the estradiol level is consistently low. Usually below 20-30pmol/L. FSH is consistently elevated, typically above 25iu and can be well above 100iu.

However in my opinion it is never worth going untreated in order to test this, because this information is far less valuable than people think it is.

Yes numbers are consistently low , I went off hrt for over a year did blood tests and my estrogen was pretty much at 27 pmol/L every time all my other levels like FSH , LH , progesterone, SHBG , prolactin , testosterone were all consistent with post menopause levels .
On hrt my levels were very different although I agree with bombshell about not going untreated to test this , for me I wasn’t doing well on hrt and wanted to know truly at what stage I was at .
On hrt my estrogen levels were much higher and varied you can’t truly know if you are post menopause taking hormones as far as I know .

I don't think I'm menopause just yet I'm 44 and like u said I've had a big bleed from pill break and I had 2 very different resukts 219 and 511 a week apart.
Shoukd I just leave well alone as I do believe I'm peri xx

So yiu do thinkni m still in peri right? And what you are saying if I hsve this right is dont go having long breaks from HRT to try and find out? Cos im wanting to stay on my zoely (if this us the one for ne) back to back ...
So in menopause do yhe ovaries still work somewhat? Cos im thinking if I'm taking the pill it's not going to be doing anything to shut the ovaries if they are already shut? I don't know much on all this that's why I like the info and to try and get it right xx

At 44 menopause is possible but statistically unlikely.

If you take a combined pill continuously like I take Zoely, and you have nice stable estradiol levels that are the same every day, and no periods, you do not know if or when you have become postmenopausal.

But it doesn't matter one bit, because you have remained estrogen replete throughout and completely bypassed all the chaos of perimenopause.

One day, in my early to mid 50's I will simply finish my last pack of the birth control pill and the very next day I will take my first menopause hormone therapy pill.

This is what many if not most female gynaecologists do. They aren't dealing with periods and perimenopause and shit like that because they know better, and I just wish this information could be more widely known.
