Been on hrt for 6 months and bleeding for 14+ days!
« on: October 01, 2025, 11:46:26 AM »

Hi everyone I’ve been on gel and I’m tablets for 6 months and I’m bleeding for 2 weeks plus for 4 months. Dr said take progesterone for 14 days off 14 days on but on packet says 12 days from 15-26 days of cycle. I’m miserable bleeding so much. I’m starting with the 15-26 days because no one is helping me. I’ve had scan and womb lining sample done and it’s all normal.

How old are you?

You don't have to live like that, there are multiple bleed free options.

The best one in my opinion if you are under 50 is the combined pill taken continuously, no bleeding and no hormonal ups and downs as it shuts down your own cycle and adds a stable low daily dose back.

I take Zoely, active pills only, and have a much better quality of life than my friends on either sequential MHT or nothing.

I’m 49 in January
I’m waiting for my gp to refer me to Dr Lindsey Thomas in Sheffield but I don’t know where she is or when that will be.
It’s obviously greatly affecting things with my boyfriend. I love sex with him and I’m fed up.

You can buy the pill from online pharmacies as long as you are medically suitable and under 50 if your GP won't help.

Even after you turn 50 you can still buy desogestrel, and taking two of these daily ie 150mcg provides not only endometrial protection alongside your estrogen of choice, but amenorrhea in the vast majority.

There is no medical advantage to enduring repeated episodes of vaginal bleeding, whether menstrual or iatrogenic, and the only beneficiary of this is the tampon companies.
