« on: September 21, 2025, 10:07:17 AM »

Hi i have been really unwell recently with chronic rhinosinusitis, bppv a virus and urine infection and i was in bed for 3 weeks, was also in out of hours surgery 4 times and twice with stroke symptoms had numb very slightly squint right side of mouth but they said not stroke, two weeks after the rhinosinusitus and bppv i got exhausted jelly legs and feel like i can't lift them or are trailing them and they are still like this 2 weeks later, can someone tell me if it's coincidence or is this a menopause symptom, i'm wondering if a lot of this has been menopause related and also the last 6 monrhs i feel like canny breath and feel all stuffy and on holiday had the apartment door open tryin to get air and we did have air con then one day in a restaurant i had to run out cause the table was way far back inside the restaurant and feel i couldn't breath is this maybe menopauae anxiety? I'm now over thinking attacks that i have had in shops and am nervous to go out and when it happened before i thought it was invisually induced dizziness but starting to wonder i'm starting to feel chlaustrophobic which i have never had

If U have had a virus your immune system may well be fighting to counteract it, hence your continued symptoms.  'flu can cause similar, when I had it I was unable to lift my head from the pillow for 3 days, slept a lot and had jelly legs for ages after.  That was in 1985.

Once we focus on a problem, i.e. feeling unable to breath, we tend to stop taking normal deeper breaths so that panting = anxiety.  Hormones can cause similar effects.

Where U given any treatment for the sinusitis ? itis = inflammation: what's bppv?  Sinusitis for me was like being hung over for no reason and bending forwards was impossible  :-\

Sounds like you're struggling with anxiety, after all the illness you've just had it's not surprising. Your immune system is probably still low and you need to give yourself time to fully recover. I couldn't always cope well with illness and it still makes me feel anxious, maybe it's menopause anxiety or health anxiety, either way it's not nice and can cause lots of physical symptoms. My legs would go all shaky and like jelly when I had a panic attack and also when suffering with anxiety I used to feel like I'd got flu symtons, all weak, drained and had to keep taking big breaths as if I wasn't getting enough air. I'd panic when out in case I was going to pass-out, I never did but felt claustrophobic in crowds and confined places.
Try not to do too much an let your body recover, it could take a few weeks to get back to normal after all you've had so don't rush it. Taking the pressure off will help you relax better. I suffered with anxiety through menopause, although at the time didn't realise it was that causing it but have always had health anxiety. My GP referred me to Talking Therapy, I think you can refer yourself. There's a few weeks waiting list but it was the best thing I ever did. I still get anxious, everyone does, but I now know how to manage it and feel more in control when things happen unexpected or I'm ill.
Are you having other menopause symptoms or just the anxiety, HRT may help or maybe something for anxiety if it's just that. I would definately recommend the therapy as well anyway.

That's a long time to wait for results, I'd give them a ring or contact your GP to chase them up. If you aren't feeling any better go back to your doctor anyway you shouldn't be struggling like this for so long without proper care and you may need different antibiotics if they aren't working.

U shouldn't be suffering repeated sinus infections.  When I worked with a friend in the 1970s her GP told her that we were cross infecting each other, a 10 day course of ABs for us both cleared up the virus.

Another friend has had surgical intervention for long-term sinus problems and feels better .......... an ENT appt should be arranged to get proper advice.  Using nasal sprays too often may well strip any good bacteria away = 'cant think of the word'  :-\ sorry.

Also there are medications and therapies to tackle vertigo, I would know as I opened my eyes that it was 'there'.  Didn't dare to move, DH had to lift me to the loo with eyes shut: my eyes not his  ::)

I have enquired about surgery for my repeated sinus infections but have to wait on MRI and have attended ear, nose n throat for dizziness, the bppv actually happens a lot when the crystals in ear move and its common with the jobs i do

Have you tried the Epley Maneuver for vertigo and moving the crystals back into place?

That could be a silent migraine as that makes my legs feel like that for a few days after. You won’t have a headache but sometimes the head can also feel bruised along with the shaky legs (mine gets bruised on the right side only and legs weak on left).
