Vagifem and Estriol cream
« on: September 17, 2025, 05:59:22 PM »

Is it safe to use Vagifem and Estriol cream at the same time? I have soreness both in and outside. I also have urinary issues.

Yep.  Internal and external treatment is often necessary.

R U using every night?  Vagifem internally as far up as is comfy, as the tissues soften and become less dry, the pessary can be inserted a little further allowing it to 'melt' inside.  A smear of estriol cream on the outer vulval area again, to keep the skin soft.  I also use KY Jelly when I don't have my VA treatment to hand.

:welcomemm:  let us know how you get on.  VA symptoms mimic urine infection-like feelings really really well!

Thank you for your reply.
I was worried to use nightly as I thought it would be too much use. Hopefully the urinary issues will begin to go with nightly use! How long can I use both nightly for?

I've been using daily treatment of both Vagifem and Estriol cream for over five years. When you feel your symptoms are improving you can decide whether to reduce the dose or not, topical treatment is very safe to use.

A week later and the urinary symptoms are still there. Been using the Vagifem and Estriol every night. The urgency eases when I sit down but when standing, very sore inside :(

R U needing to P more often or is there simply a feeling of a 'need to gp'?  It can take weeks B4 symptoms ease so keep on with the treatment regime, U can occasionally insert a vagifem in the morning and evening.  When I get the feelings of a nip as the urine flow shuts off, I take Nurofen.

Keep hydrated because restriction of fluids causes the kidneys to work more, remembering that we absorb liquids from both food and drinks.

These symptoms will ease if U keep on with treatment.

It can take a few weeks to start feeling an improvement, it's not a quick fix just keep using every night it will gradually improve.

Stupid question but are you using it all around the uretha? I've found I've had to be meticulous in applying it to the whole vulval area to treat the atrophy. And as someone has said, it takes persistence. I also use Yes moisturizer.

Yes I am covering the whole area. Aswell as using the Vagifem. Worried to use too much cream together with the tablet. Weeing more and urgency. Just like I had months ago. I do not know why the symptoms have returned.
Thank you for your advice.x

Can't overdose on oestrogen replacement as it's such a small amount applied into and around the vagina.  Quality of Life?  Get some more treatment there this monring and again at bed time.

Let us know how you get on, mayB after 3/4 days go back to nightly unless symptoms are troublesome.  It's Trial and Error to get a regime that eases symptoms.

It's horrible, I know!  I had to stop using Ovestin as it seemed to contribute to the urinary issues after about 6 months of use.
I use Vagifem every night and I use coconut oil on the outside each morning. It can be a little messy and I have to use a panty liner, but I find I get so much relief.
I can't deviate off my routine AT ALL or I get the bladder issues.  It's ridiculous.
