Hi,
I've never got to the bottom of whether HRT has helped my severe dry eye syndrome or not.....
I would love to speak to a specialist who has knowledge of both the Menopause and also Dry eye syndrome.....
Anyway, I am on Oestrogel and Utrogestan and am 53. I've been struggling with dry eye for a number of years and can no longer wear contacts which is a massive blow as my specs are like milk bottle bottoms...
Anyway, I use a mixture of eye drops throughout the day depending on how my eyes feel, I use Hycosan Intense and Extra, Theoloz Duo and Hycosan night ointment. I am also on Ikervis which is on prescription from the eye hospital. I use a warm eye compress at least once a day (should be twice) and gently massage my eyelids afterwards to help unblock oil glands. I then use a tea tree oil eye wipe afterwards.
I have punctal plugs fitted but am due into the eye hospital on Friday for upper punctal cautery.
I would keep on top of using your eye drops, at times I have had to use mine every 5 / 10 minutes.
I would try a warm eye compress with gentle massage afterwards as long at this is ok to do if you have eye pressure issues?
On my most recent visit to the eye hospital I saw a fabulous Dr who has basically thrown the kitchen sink at my symptoms and this has made a real improvement in my condition. I was on steroid drops for six weeks and she also gave me antibiotics for three months as she suspected I had eye lash mites (which is so gross to think about but not that unusual apparently)......
So there are plenty of avenues to explore in terms of treatment, just try to keep on top of it and unfortunately it does seem to be pot luck as to how helpful the Dr's are....
I also take Sea buckthorn and Tumeric.
With all of this treatment I finally feel as though I am seeing some improvement and occasional soft contact lense wear is on the horizon for me which will be absoutley wonderful

Hope this helps in some way.
Best wishes.
