Yes, Sudocrem is also excellent for piles, which also cause anal itching.

Sudocrem for nappy rash, mayB try some for the bottom smeared gently several times a day.

Zinc & Castor oil cream is very good for that area too.

That reminded me: Paternal Gran had a tin always to hand: was it green paste-type of stuff? : as well as bicarb of soda as a paste for burns.

CLKD: bicarb paste, that reminds me of the time my husband got severe robe burn & someone suggested putting that on it. Oh my goodness, the screaming coming from the bathroom after we applied it 😆

No its a lovely white soft cream, unlike Sudocrem which is very thick, and its very soothing on inflamed, itchy skin.

Hemmeroids cause anal itching, especially at night.

Have you been to the doc to ask about the cause? Do you have hemerrhoids?
Ive heard VA can thin the area back there too. I bought some sudocreme and it does help.
The itch can be intense,cant it?
I try not to scratch because i bled once.
I wonder if anal yeast can cause it too.
Ill have to ask my gp.

I've never asked the GP, Nina, mainly because my dad had it for so many years & was never offered any treatment, just told it was pruritis.
I don't have piles but I do know the whole area is really dry. As long as something is on there, it doesn't itch & I think because sudocreme is thick & stays put throughout the day it seems the best solution.

Because you ve had it since your 20s its not new to you,but i just stsrted this at 57 so that is why i was asking if it was meno related. As something new im not sure why its a issue now.

I do think it's likely yours will be meno related, Nina. Although mine isn't new, it's worse since I've had VA. Whereas before if I forgot to apply anything after a shower I might get away without noticing itching for a day, now post shower within half an hour I'm very uncomfortable & then the itching starts. That goes for all external areas down there. So what ever was the original cause, as my bits have dried out as my estrogen levels have decreased, it's definitely much worse.

I always use unscented PURE baby wipes, instead of toilet roll, they're 99% water with aloe vera. Buy in bulk on amazon.
This stopped the itching and sore bottom.
