Increasing ultrogestan to 200
« on: September 02, 2025, 11:04:09 AM »

I am on a 100mcg patch which I increased a couple of months ago but I am really struggling with the increase to 200 ultrogestan . My womb lining looks ok from scan so trying 200 every other day and 100 in between but feel awful the morning after the 200 really groggy anyone else experiencing this?

I had also started random bleeding once I increased the patch which my menopausal consultant said would settle as due to increase and she was happy with the lining of my womb hence the plan to stay on the 100 ultrogestan but the continued bleeding had made me try to
Increase the ultrogestan but just can’t take it everyday. Due back to consultant in next few weeks any advice gratefully recieved

Have you tried using it vaginally instead of orally?  Apparently that lessens the systemic effects of it so won't help with sleep issues but maybe in turn wont make you groggy.  You could take one orally and one vaginally either.

I'd be a bit careful about altering the dose daily, it's the drop in progesterone that triggers the bleed so it's something to watch out for. If you can't tolerate it it your options are a sequi regime with a scheduled bleed or a different type to progestogen. Or stick with 100 and have private scans to check the lining isn't building up. I get the same symptoms from utro and found it makes no difference how I took it, but 10am instead of at night so best for me (it also gave me insomnia). Worth trying vaginally though. I was relatively ok til day 8 then it got worse and worse.

I'm worried about this (in bold) I've been put on 200mg Utrogestan continuously, upped from 100mg continuously. I remember when I was on sequi and used 200mg for the withdrawal bleed , I always started with irritability, crying, basic PMS symptoms because of it after about 8 or 9  days.
I have taken it 10 nights now and THINK I still feel Ok, fingers crossed and hoping it doesn't start kicking in.... :-\
