Possible trapped nerve...
« on: August 20, 2025, 05:59:12 AM »

Hi all,
Ok so this is a new one.  I have been on Vagifem for about 3 months.  Previously on Ovestin for 9 months which seemed to stop working, even with a nightly dose.
Vagifem has been great with helping my bladder almost feel normal again.  I also use some coconut oil on the outside which stops any dry feeling.
So about 3 weeks into Vagifem, I started getting the oddest symptom.  It's like a nerve twitching or like a little electric shock around my vagina/bladder area.  It happens over and over again, until I go to sleep and then it's gone in the morning.  It's annoying and a bit uncomfortable because it almost feels like sexual stimulation....yikes.
It's not every day or all the time - it appears occasionally but lately, more often.  The doctor thinks it could be a trapped nerve.
Has anyone else had anything like this before?

It may well be sexual stimulation of U R applying VA treatment.  Does it correspond to the nights that you use the product?

Garnet, it's not your urethra is it? The only similar thing I've experienced is a quick shock like pain which I've realised in urethral pain - but it's not like the stimulant you describe. But when I'm busting for a wee the sensation I get is almost like sexual stimulation. It's all a bit weird TBH.

Hi, there is no rhyme nor reason for when it happens. For example - I had it on and off yesterday from about midday to around 5pm.  Then it tapered off after my shower.  Sometimes it happens until sleep time, sometimes it comes on in the morning.

It's not a pain, it's like a flutter, a twinge.  If I put my finger down just under my clitoris, I can actually feel it twinge under my finger. It helps to sit down - the pressure against it lessens the twinging.

So weird!  It's not all the time so I guess I should be grateful.  My GP (who is wonderful), suggested the trapped nerve thing but she was unsure too.

If you can feel it happen with your finger it is odd, isn't it. Just another symptom to add to the long list of weird things we get. I do wonder how you could get a trapped nerve there, though? I hope it gets better for you.

Hi, I had something similar a while ago and it seemed to coincide with me being dehydrated (I was drinking less in the evenings to stop me waking up to pee!). When I started to drink lots more water in the day, it stopped. I don't know if it was a coincidence or not.  (I also don't need to pee in the night anymore being much more hydtrated in the day :) )

As an aside: if we drink less, the kidneys work harder,  so we get up to pee more often.
