Slynd dosage
« on: August 19, 2025, 06:31:36 PM »

Hi,

Can anyone advise the correct dosage of Slynd progesterone to go with 3 or 4 pumps of Oestragel  a day  please (im possibly going up to 4 soon)

The private consultant who prescribed them for me due to progesterone intolerance said one 4mg tablet a day.

Recently an NHS consultant (I had to spell the name of Slynd for her as don't think she had heard of it!) suggested i need to increase it to two 4mg tablets a day.

That seems excessive i thought. All advice appreciated.  Thankyou.

The NHS consultant is completely wrong and the private menopause specialist is right.

I used oral Angeliq 2mg/1mg which contains 2mg Slynd and 1mg oestrogen which is the equivalent of two pumps of Oestrogel.  You have been prescribed 4 pumps of Oestrogel which is twice as much as 1mg of the oral oestrogen in Angeliq so 4mg of Slynd is spot on.  It's a fairly strong form of synthetic progesterone meaning too high a dose would drown out the benefits of the Oestrogel and also give you side effects.

If the NHS consultant had to have the name Slynd spelt for her, she obviously knows nothing about that brand of progesterone and has just plucked a figure out of the air although god knows how she arrived at 8mg.  This is extremely poor because your private specialist has prescribed the right dose of progesterone and has taken your progesterone intolerance into account.  This woman could completely derail your HRT regime if you were to follow her advice.  Don't do it!

Agree with Mary.

Nobody needs to be on more than 4mg of drospirenone, ever, and probably less than this would be perfectly adequate however I wouldn't recommend this without endometrial monitoring.

Thankyou both for the information it is really helpful

I will stick with the 4mg as you say.

I despair at some of these 'doctors' she is the second Gynecologist ive encountered who didn't seem to have heard of Slynd!

Much appreciated,  Lyndsey

Hi Lyndsey,
I'm interested to know how you're getting on with Slynd in terms of side effects please?
I appear to have a really strong aversion / intolerance to utrogestan so I'm looking for an alternative to allow me to continue taking estradiol.
Hopefully you've noticed an improvement? 🙏
Thanks and look forward to hearing back from you
