Groin and leg pains causing sleep disruption
« on: August 18, 2025, 08:20:12 AM »

after having a mirena coil inserted in March 2024 I suffered from pains in my crutch area during the night as well as palpitations which caused much sleep deprivation.

As my doctor was no help at all I ended up referring myself to the emergency gynaecology ward to have it removed 3 months later.  However I then suffered cold Turkey symptoms due to suddenly coming off HRT after taking it for 9 months.  So I started HRT again with utrogestan but the palpitations during the night continued until I stopped taking it again last November due to cancer concerns as my womb lining was 15 mm.
A third hysteroscopy showed no cancer and I thought I was out of the woods and my sleep seemed to improve.  However, 6 months ago I was walking one day and there was a sharp pain in my right groin which is getting worse along with pains in my outside thigh and knee.

I have seen a physiotherapist but she hasn’t diagnosed my condition nor offered advice except for some exercises.  I am due to see another physiotherapist today who will hopefully be more helpful.

I am feeling really desperate now about the constant pain during the night and lack of sleep and am seriously thinking about assisted suicide.

I don’t have any health insurance but feel I now need to have a MRI and/or electromyography test.

I just need some hope that my leg will return to its full health.

I saw an acupuncturist who also worked in the NHS pain clinic. Could you find any such person?

There are different types of acupuncturists so you need to do research but they can give you information & help with a different approach.

Sadly the NHS in my area offers only ibuprofen for pain management.  I have found an independent acupuncturist but I’m concerned about whether I’ve chosen the right one and the costs.

I live in East Yorkshire- Where do you live?  If you could tell me about the acupuncturist you saw and the type of acupuncturist you used for your condition that would be really helpful.

I was diagnosed yesterday with osteoarthritis 😣

I've responded to your other thread, mayB get Emma to merge both so that answers don't become lost?

You could speak to a Pharmacist regarding pain relief.

I saw a medical acupuncturist who put needles into trigger points in muscles.

I imagine with the nerve pain you are having that you will have some muscle trigger points.
