Hi, I've been on Evorel for years (first Sequi 50 now Conti). My GP has changed this prescription due to bleeding.

So now I'm on 3 pumps of eostrogel and 1 tablet of progesterone.

But Evorel conti is 50 micrograms of estrogen and 3 pumps of the gel is ?225 microgrs?? Have I got that right? Isn't that a bit excessive?

Just to add I've had extensive investigations for the bleeding and I was advised to change my hrt - hence now taking gel +tablet.

As a general rule of thumb 2 pumps of gel is considered to be roughly equivalent to a 50mcg patch, however there is wide individual variability in how much someone absorbs from each product.

It is largely a case of trial and error to arrive at the optimal regimen, particularly with gel as plasma levels are unreliable.

I think what you have been given is a reasonable place to start and it can always be adjusted if needed.

I would start with 2 pumps as that should be equivalent. If you need more you might find it easier to split it into night and morning which should give you more consistent levels. If you prefer a patch you can use oestrogen only patches alongside the separate progestogen (I have being slathered in gel but that's just personal preference).
