randox tasso Vs venous blood draw
« on: August 06, 2025, 10:59:18 AM »

Just had my private appointment and she says the blood test for oestrodial has to be by venous draw not randox tasso which is capillary draw. Does anyone know why results might be inaccurate with the capillary draw? And can you tell from the result sheet you get which way the blood was obtained?

Hi Sheila, just read my recent Randox Tasso results for female sex hormone panel and there’s no mention of how the sample was taken.

Hi
I've just done this test too.
It is from capillary blood, says so in the FAQ section on the website:
" How does a QuickDraw device work?
The QuickDraw Button sticks to the skin with a light adhesive. When the button is pressed, a vacuum forms and a lancet pricks the surface of the skin. The vacuum draws blood out of the capillaries and into a compatible container attached to the bottom of the QuickDraw Button."

I've read that generally capillary blood levels tie in with vein blood levels, but not when you're using transdermal HRT, due to the way it's absorbed.
Don't know if that's true or not. I'm not on HRT of any sort right now and everything was about the same as it was on my last NHS venous blood test, except oestrogen which was massively lower.
